@chaser not bad, not bad. However the one (and I do mean one) thing I love about #Jetstar is the #Airbus#A320 and #A321. These planes are simply fantastic.
#Bonza on the other hand made the Bonkers decision to go with the MAX 8.
@raymondpert The thing that annoys me most is to call #Airbus a "French" plane maker. Yes, the headquarters are physically located in France, but it is a European company, and the German contribution is as big as the French, and many other countries have a substantial share, they are not just subcontractors to the French Overlords.
This is not just nitpicking, Airbus is registered as a Societas Europaea in the European Union, not as a company in any particular member state: de facto and de jure, Airbus is a #European company.
It's like calling #Boeing a Virginia company. #SocietasEuropaea#notFrench#aviation
Balls of steel and absolute hero award to the captain of the #JL516 flight: “[…] the aircraft had been evacuated within 7 minutes after the collision, however, it took another 11 minutes until the captain managed to convince several petrified passengers still in the cabin to leave the aircraft.” He saved “several” (other sources say 12) passengers by doing that and was the last person to leave the burning plane. https://avherald.com/h?article=5132b9fe&opt=0
Also the biggest respect to the engineers and material experts at #Airbus for constructing the plane in ways that made this evacuation possible. And definitely to the crew that managed the chaos. The passengers that understood the seriousness. It was IMHO the best outcome of a very bad situation.

I still remember the first time I saw an Airbus 380 landing at Heathrow. I was in a lounge overlooking a runway. Waiting for a flight to San Francisco for WWDC. The A380 is remarkable.

#Airbus commissions three wind-powered #ships to sail the #Atlantic
The plane-maker revealed it has “commissioned shipowner Louis Dreyfus Armateurs to build, own and operate these new, highly efficient vessels that will enter into service from 2026.” The ships feature half a dozen Flettner rotors, rotating cylinders that produce the Magnus effect – a phenomenon that produces lift thanks to pressure differences on either side of a rotating object. https://www.theregister.com/2023/10/27/airbus_ships/
The European Space Agency has signed a deal with Airbus and Voyager Space to secure its next home in orbit.
The two companies are currently developing Starlab, a planned replacement for the International Space Station (ISS), set to retire in 2030.
Under the agreement, ESA will assess how the Starlab space station could be used to provide continued access to space for Europe after the retirement of the ISS.
