In between writing, I like to paint. Sometimes, my favorites inspire me. One of those faves is Monet. I finished a mixed media of waterlilies tonight. Feeling pretty good about it. I like the blend and the flow. It’s a watercolor background with soft pastels and (minimally) some pastel pencil.
Monet and water lilies go together like peanut butter and jelly. This was part of a series he did, capturing the blooms at different times of the day, and in different lights.
I took an updated Polaroid SX-70 along to Hinckley Lake, and while I'm still learning my way around the camera, I'm happy with how this shot turned out
Most of the photos I post are of undomesticated plants and animals. But I have a soft spot for #waterlilies.... Daughter is visiting from the mainland. A treat to do some touristy things with her. The highlight of #ButchartGardens were the water lilies. Visual poems.

Well, to be honest, I liked #Tomboy a lot except for the ending, which felt like a complete betrayal of everything the film had portrayed up to that last line. And #WaterLilies was ponderous, tentative, and too full of cringe. I had really expected more from her previous work after how much I adored #PortraitOfALadyOnFire.
