Have you ever heard of the qayroq? It's a simple #percussion#instrument from Uzbekistan consisting of a metal piece and a stone; often a set per hand, and the rhythms can get really complex.

Spent the past few hours recording Bongo Cajon and a 12 inch frame drum with some Audix drum mics. D6 and i5 I think. Went into the Zoom H6 as an interface to Live.
People go "dont use the Zoom, its noisy!!" Not for percussion and drums! Or in fact anything loud. If I was doing superclean vocals etc I'd use an external pre.
