Today is National Go to an Art Museum Day!
Canada has over 2,000 museums so you can easily find subject matter to suit different tastes or explore something new. Health benefits of visiting an art museums from recent studies include reduced stress, and improved memory, and empathy.
Here's a subjective list of the top 15 museums in Canada. I've only visited 3 on this list so I have a lot of exploring left.
My wife and I are fortunate to live near the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. It's a favourite spot for us and we try to visit at least once a year. Their collection includes 6,500+ artworks by Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven, their contemporaries, and First Nations. There are extensive trails around the museum as well.
