What absorbs us, catches our attention, causes us to stop and completely focus? Is it a thought of our own, a moment of imagination and play? May it be so -- may we be enchanted and entranced by nature and life.
Vejam! #QueBelaPizza#QueBelaPizzaNoGNT#Televisão#reality
PKD writing presciently about our current information age?
"It is like information theory; it is noise driving out signal. But it is noise posing as signal so you do not even recognize it as noise...If you can float enough disinformation into circulation you will totally abolish everyone’s contact with reality, probably your own included."
Philip K. Dick, The Transmigration of Timothy Archer
Through the ebb and flow of the algorithmic tides, a snipped of #PKD (a lovely bit of Dick) I posted nine months ago is blowing up in the 'Tubes: https://youtu.be/zPAiTyBcHTw
I will add that it seems nearly everyone with power, not just rich people (though there's not much distinction these days), is under the mistaken impression that the only rules worth worrying about are societal rules. I’m not even sure they're aware that the other kind of rule exists. If they are, they think that such rules are things only nerds need worry about.
After a hot, dry summer, the first rain of early, early autumn is most welcome. When it comes to weather, our memories are better than what we're told on TV.
@flexghost John Carpenter's "In the mouth of madness" sums it up pretty well though:
"Reality is just what we tell each other it is. Sane and insane could easily switch places, if the insane were to become the majority. You would find yourself locked in a padded cell, wondering what happened to the world."
So there it is: #reps and #maga crazies are trying to switch realities, so that we're the ones ending up in a padded cell... #trump#republicans#reality#truth#sane#insane
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away." — Philip K. Dick ("How To Build A Universe That Doesn't Fall Apart Two Days Later", 1978) #quotes#reality
Lara #Trump is completely detached from #reality. At no point during her appearance did she say anything that indicates she has even the slightest understanding on what's going on.
Note to Florida and DeSantis: Africans were already skilled boatbuilders, blacksmiths, rice farmers, & the equivalent of civil engineers—building levies and irrigation systems—before they were abducted and brought here. So they didn’t need training they could later use for their own benefit. They needed not to be enslaved. #education#facts#reality#curriculum
"When you [post] any of the disaster that is Covid, who are you speaking to? So many [posts]in this genre. All speaking to absent leadership that could fix things. So is there even a point to it, given we’re speaking into a void?
..with #Covid, we have zero chance of succeeding by just firing data & graphs at people. The most open-minded may shift their awareness a little, feel some discomfort, but the overwhelming social pressure of their lives will always win."
Hypothetically, if you happened to have a perfect fly-on-the-wall recording of those discussions, I strongly suspect you would hear all of those factors discussed.
What I suspect you would not hear would be "They're First Nations people, so let's not search for their remains".
