In Unity, I liked creating my own editors to work with game data, scene object states, quick testing, etc. Today I tried similar possibilities in Unreal Engine. Editor Utility Widget it's a much more cool system, and with blueprint it's a whole other level of tool building #gamedev

@dichotomiker i`m not pickup object, just attached to component and after inspect - free... for this examples. But yes, attaching object to other its not necessary

I created a draft battery and added a little logic to charge the batteries, the more batteries or the less light, the slower it charges from the solar panel. I really enjoyed the process of creating widgets, I hated doing UI in Unity ๐Ÿงฆ

I make solar panels to charge energy batteries from starlight. One of the main mechanics in the Sci-Fi game is the use of batteries, of which there will be a lot. Find or craft and charge... for tools, transport, etc

Many sleepless nights and finally, we went through all the stages of creating the functionality of a PlayStation 5 game and all the rounds of bureaucracy. Erra: Exordium release on the May 1. It was the longest journey and experience that can be sold for money ๐Ÿคฃ

@glukozavr many additions and changes, related specifically to the platform API, saving, gamepad, vibration, loading the game from activity and a bunch of other requirements... when you don't know what to do and why it doesn't work, you spend a lot of time looking for a solution that depends on the game engine and ps modules

It's not quite a cable, it's a tentacles, but the concept of creation is very similar. Particles in Niagara that keep a certain distance between themselves. Maybe someday I'll come up with something to do with it ๐Ÿ™

Cylinder: radius 1, length 500. Skeletal Mesh with 50 bones and Capsules colliders. The result is a 5-meter cable. And this is done without the use of third-party editors, only Unreal Engine 5

@glassbottommeg I tried to do something similar based on a Cable component before, but I realized that it is difficult or impossible, some parameters cannot be changed dynamically... the Cable component shows itself well for tasks where it is not necessary to change the position or length, more for creating an environment or connecting two points

Continuing the rope experiment in Unreal Engine 5 ... tried gluing two ropes together with Physics Constraint Components. Doesn't look perfect, but these problems can be solved. I think it is possible to make the behavior of a rope of any size
