“Light trucks” and SUVs need to be taxed way harder. There’s way too many people driving around in fucking massive cars for no reason. They pollute more, they wear our roads more, they are more dangerous to others, there needs to be fewer of them. There needs to be fewer cars in general but there really needs to be fewer large cars

@billmason @startrek I'm skeptical. I fear they ruined trek with discovery. By showing the universe nearly a millennium in the future, now any new stories they will be "filling in the timeline" where we already know at some level how it all works out. The dramatic tension is gone.

Or, stories set after any time we haven't already seen will be so far into future as to be disconnected from what came before.

Makes me sad. Abrams damaged Trek. Kurtzman may have killed it.

@ValueSubtracted I mean, it's not binary, but it is a factor. I've watched the same movie, or even single episodes, many, many times. But there is a reason people, like myself, want to avoid spoilers before watching something new. Knowing how it ends ahead of time just hits different.

@ValueSubtracted but part of st vi laid out how the Federation and klingon empire became the allies we see in tng. That's the kind of "filling in the blanks" stories I'm talking about. VI is my 2nd favorite movie after Khan, so I'm not saying those kinds of stories can't be good as well.

They said they don't usually talk politics, but people must wake up before birth control is banned. If they do that, women will go back to the days when they couldn't own bank accounts.

Today I learned about or , a variant of that doesn't disrupt a flow state.

Instead of a timer that counts down, it's a stopwatch that counts up. You focus and work until your concentration falters, then the length of the break you take is based on how long you focused. If you can get into the state for 2.5 hours and you take 1/5 break time, then you take a 30 min break before starting your next session.

Religion is the biggest propaganda lie ever told. It is simply power & control over the masses. There is no hate quite like "religious hate" taking away your healthcare, wars, abuse, rapes, demanding your money. The biggest scam in history. Call out the utter insanity and total bullshit.

What Is The Seven Mountains Mandate? A movement among many right-wing aka christo-fascist, that embraces the notion that religion, specifically Christianity, should have dominion over all aspects of society, particularly our government.

As insurrectionist Lauren Boebert put it bluntly:

“The church is supposed to direct the govt. The government is not supposed to direct the church.”

To believe this, of course, Christian nationalists like Johnson and Boebert reject the entire notion of the separation of church and state that is clearly stated in our Constitution.
