Being sick has meant a lot of reading. Just finished “Everyone in my family has killed someone,” by Benjamin Stevenson. I’m not a huge reader of murder mysteries, but this was a delight. The conceit is that an author who writes about the golden rules for murder mysteries finds himself … in a murder mystery. So he follows his own rules in telling it. The voice is hilarious and the mystery complex enough to be interesting but not ridiculously convoluted.

A generative AI can’t research or check sources; it doesn’t have a concept of these things.

It doesn’t have concept of anything. It doesn’t know what a concept is.

It knows nothing, because it cannot think.

It’s literally an autocomplete algorithm with a large corpus of text.

    Top Gun Maverick

    Incredible sound mix, amazing cinematography, great editing. Everything else is awful

    Story reminded me of a grocery shopping list written by a gaggle of five conscripted writers without a line of command. Shots bingo for choppy writing would be lethal

    Being drunk helps though because almost nothing is grounded in real world possibilities. Sure, suspense of disbelief is a thing but everything is like when Brian falls off the tower in Life of Brian and is saved by space aliens
