I wanted to give a shoutout to & strong recommendation for the Mastodon account run by @Nonilex

it has a strong "signal-to-noise" ratio and its always about things important to the US

I love it!

I do hope she/they are getting some kind of compensation behind the scenes to provide it. but if not, if its truly just a work of passion, I have even greater respect and appreciation for it

@Nonilex the problem is that in the US at least anyone can accuse anyone else of sexual assault, true or false, and use that as leverage to blackmail the target. even paying money to shut the accuser up does not itself mean the accused is guilty, only that they are hoping to min damage to their rep and reduce hassle. anyone in politics or public eye is a target anymore

People don't understand what money is. Some people gain advantage by tricking those people into thinking governments "borrow."

Government debt is simply a measure of how much money is circulating. Govts spend money into the economy, taxes take it out.

Taxes do not "fund" spending. Taxes are not "revenue." Taxes remove currency from circulation.

In the USA "paying off the national debt" would mean taxing $30 trillion out of the economy. How do you think that would work out?

@dcjohnson here is an issue, however: each year the % of its budget the Fed gov must spend to service its "debt" increases. and it crowds out alternate uses that money could have been put toward. every dollar spent on paying interest or buying back tbills is a dollar that cannot be spent on a bridge or a paycheck or a 155mm shell for allies like Ukraine. with no significant change in this trend the math tells us the gov will reach a point where most/all gov spending must be spent on debt service

It's 2024, and I still play a ton of Wolfenstein 3D every year. It's just a perfect game. My memory's not great though, and it's weird I STILL don't have much memorized even after playing these maps SO MANY times.

Right now I have the Xbox 360 version paused on my Series X in the living room and it's been sitting like that for a day or two, so Wolf 3D music is just quietly playing in the background. I realized I'm cool with this. My brain's always in Castle Wolfenstein killing digital Nazis anyway, why not have it as background music for daily life. 🤣😂🤣

Got a funny screenshot the other day. Not sure I've ever spotted when I've been exactly at 1% life but it happened and I caught it!

Continuing my USB adventure. I am successfully "reading" from the device I'm playing with, after finding some variable alternates on the configured interface. I'm not getting any data, at any packet size. Assume this is because I have to tell the device to start sending data with a control request, however I can't get any to work. I even tried GET_STATUS which should be all zeros, but that gives me a libusb pipe error. The device is old, so USB1.1 spec is likely. reverse eng with 0 docs
