Hey #TechHub users, I've finally updated the finance page on the Hub.
We are doing great financially, thanks to everyone who is donating.
The monthly #donations currently exceed our monthly expenses, but our yearly expenses have grown a lot due to the fees/maintenance of running the business.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to DM me.
Cheers,
#Mastodon forms new 501(c)(3) non-profit entity with new board of directors in the United States to facilitate tax-deductible donations and in-kind support:
@Mastodon please tell this more often: "Most people don’t realize the core developer team of Mastodon is still just two people, and it is these last donations that have allowed us to open a third full-time developer position."
The memorial to child victims of war at #Lidice - 82 sculptures of children, cast in bronze. I've seen it in person, and it's a very powerful piece. It's also in need of restoration.
For my #birthday later this month, I'm asking for #donations to the restoration fund.
Attention, Brandon Sanderson fans! Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to put me in the position to write full-time by turning me into a multi-millionaire. This post will NOT self-destruct in 5 seconds. 😎 @bookstodon
If you plan on cleaning out your closet anytime soon, as I do, here’s a guiding principle I found out about recently and thought I’d share: The 90/90 Rule to De-Cluttering. It may or may not work for everyone. But, I’m going to give it a try. #springcleaning#donations
This is just a friendly reminder that we as instances here on Mastodon do NOT run ads or track and sell any of your data. Most all instances and their services are paid for directly out of the owners pockets, therefore donations are greatly appreciated as they go to fully support the instance you are using and enjoy.
If you can, consider supporting your instance admins! Even $5 goes a long way!
I’ve been slow putting this together this month because honestly the last bunch of donations have lasted (THANK YOU!), but here’s the Amazon kitty donation list for March!
Things have been rough in the rescue community lately — I can’t take kittens until I get the older kittens and cats adopted, and I know I’m not alone. If you can, please consider adopting from your local rescue!
Dr. Ruth Gottesman, on donating $1 billion to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine so all students can attend tuition-free:
Dr. Gottesman’s husband died in 2022 at age 96. “He left me, unbeknownst to me, a whole portfolio of Berkshire Hathaway stock,” she recalled. The instructions were simple: “Do whatever you think is right with it."
I want to build, launch & operate a web app which will try convincing more folks to NOT #vote for him. I MUST try!
However it would require me to put a LOT of time and work into it. And I CANNOT afford to do that for ZERO pay. I got bills to pay: need to eat, keep roof over my head, etc
Despite referring to the #lottery as a ‘stupidity tax’ I have to declare an interest. We have been shopping (major shops) for elderly neighbours since the pandemic and they always request a lottery ticket.
But state sponsored gambling is a plague, where many seem to believe that it is their only way out of an economic black hole. And yes, they did win £1000 which went to the food bank.
One drawback of using an anti-tracking function and continuously deleting cookies is that when you donate to a free site you use, by the next session they have no idea it was you and are again asking for a donation.
Unless you sign in. But that defeats using an anti-tracking function.
"Let Vote Save America make it easy for you with the new Anxiety Relief Program.
Here’s how it works: You set up a recurring monthly donation at the level that feels right for you, and we’ll send 100% of it to the grassroots organizations and down ballot races that need it most.
Then, at the end of each month, we’ll tell you where your dollars went."
