The first results from the world’s biggest basic income experiment

The latest research compares three groups: short-term basic income recipients, long-term basic income recipients, and lump sum recipients, who got $500 all at once, or roughly the same amount as the short-term basic income group. By almost every financial metric, the lump sum group did better than the monthly payment group.

Deaf rappers who lay down rhymes in sign languages are changing what it means for music to be heard

Dip hop is one of many styles of rap that have developed over the years. But it stands apart from other subgenres of hip-hop because rappers lay down rhymes in sign languages and craft music informed by their cultural experiences within the community.

Solar Passes 100% of Power Demand in California

For 56 days in a row, electricity from solar, wind, and water (hydro) power has exceeded 100% of power demand on California’s main grid for part of the day. Also, going back further, that has been achieved in 80 out of the last 86 days. That is since early March (International Women’s Day), late winter.

Amazon to pay $5.8M penalty for spying with Ring devices.

https://techcrunch.com/2023/05/31/amazon-ring-ftc-settlement-lax-security/

Also, Amazon makes more than $49M per hour:

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/01/how-much-revenue-tech-giants-like-amazon-and-apple-make-per-minute.html

Bet that $5.8M “penalty" is gonna hurt for a lot less time than the 7 minutes it's gonna take them to pay for it…
