The U.S. Supreme Court rejects conservative challenge to the federal consumer protection agency.
NBC News reports: "The justices rejected a business-backed argument that could have hobbled the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which protects people from unlawful financial services practices such as predatory lending."
Many Americans believe Congress could be fixed with a simple solution: Throw the bums out with term limits.
But that creates more problems than it solves, says political scientists.
For one, members in their legally mandated final term in office enjoy a kind of "senioritis" -- and experience apathy toward being productive in their final year, because they don't have to face the voters again at the ballot box.
They're not going to try and stop the genocide.
They're not putting any boots on the ground.
But they still want to be in charge of everything. As usual.
“Arab states have said it should be US-led so the US is trying to work out how it can lead it without having boots on the ground ... "
FT: "US encouraging Arab states to join multinational postwar force in Gaza"
@Thebratdragon A target which ZOF won't hesitate to aim at so they can blame it on Hamas.
They're making a right mess of that "floating pier" thing too.
"Biden Moves Forward on $1 Billion in New Arms for Israel
The administration notifies Congress of a large arms package after withholding shipment of bombs last week"
@fkamiah17 I am NOT defending Biden because this is horrifying regardless, but it's the 90-day heads up he has to give to Congress for a weapons deal that's above X dollars (I don't know the amount). It's not a done deal.
Reporter: "You said at the start of this that you don't believe what's happening in Gaza is genocide. What criterion are you using?"
Jake Sullivan: "We're using the internationally accepted term for genocide."
Accepted by who?
I remember them using this semantic bullshit in 1994 as a reason not to intervene in Rwanda.
Ryan Grim, Intercept:
"What does it say about the wider situation in Gaza if recently arrived American doctors are already suffering malnutrition and severe dehydration?"
State Department Spox: "We have not been unambiguous about the situation in Gaza."
It's happened before. It's happening again. Once you're there, they don't care.
BREAKING: Major Harrison Mann resigns from the Defense Intelligence Agency in protest at the Administration's continued support for Israel's genocide in Gaza.
"At some point - whatever the justification - you're either advancing a policy that enables the mass starvation of children, or you're not."
It's so easy to blame Biden for the genocide in Gaza.
But:
Palestinians are governed by a brutal, unhinged, Iran-backed terrorist organization. They are intercepting aid and hoarding it or selling it for outrageous prices.
Israel is governed by a power-hungry wannabe dictator backed by a blood-thirsty, trigger-happy IDF.
Biden is trying to broker peace with these two batshit crazy groups IN ORDER TO PROTECT OUR OWN US NATIONAL SECURITY.
