Netflix: Streamer's expansion into gaming is 'natural extension'
Streaming hits such as the Queen's Gambit are being adapted as games as the streamer looks to expand.

fsxylo, If I didn’t already hate Netflix, that thumbnail of beth Harmon with the Fortnite art style would make me hate the idea.
mr-apollo, As someone that has played a few “Netflix” games, I appreciate the Solitaire they offer. It has no advertising, no microtransactions, multiplayer, and the occasional new skin. The Daily challenges are also set up in a user friendly fashion where it doesn’t mandate the player to play it on an exact day.
I’m sure it will turn to shit one day but in the meantime it is good.
nicktron, It’s solitaire man, pretty hard to fuck that one up.
mr-apollo, You would think so but there isn’t a good version on Xbox.
BudgieMania, I'm not surprised they feel like that, they have a lot in common with the gaming space in terms of fucking up franchises due to unrealistic expectations
_haha_oh_wow_, Netflix is dead to me for streaming, sure as hell won’t be using them for gaming.
ImplyingImplications, Netflix knows chess is already a game, right?
lol3droflxp, I shit you not, there was a game called “Queens Gambit The Game” or something and it wasn’t chess.
RGB3x3, You know what I absolutely don’t want when I go to Netflix? Gaming.
And you know what I want even less than that when I open the app? This:
Stovetop, It’s the beginning of the end, honestly. They’re desperate for cash. It just looks sad.
ampersandrew, Why on earth would this look like they're desperate for cash rather than a natural extension of their business after they've launched at least three shows that had positive feedback loops with their associated video games?
Peacemeal12, Me personally, though gaming being a large and lucrative industry this kind of move feels like just something that they thought they can do to expand their services rather than trying to actually offer something compelling with understanding the challenges of it all
ampersandrew, That might be, but you can't deny how well the synergy between the shows and games has worked out for The Witcher, Cyberpunk, and League of Legends, and The Last of Us on HBO. It only makes sense they'd try to be the one who owns the IP of the cash cow in that synergy.
Gordon_Freeman, what about this?
Zahille7, That straight up looks like one of those shitty mobile visual novels.
