The contention that using high-filtration masks to prevent transmission of respiratory disease is “unscientific” and “lacking evidence” when we have reams of aerosol and transmission studies is a display of either unawareness/scientific illiteracy (super fixable! non-shameful!) or of an intentional disregard of the evidence for emotional or ideological reasons (common but troubling).
@RunRichRun@burritojustice This is why I used to laugh out loud when I received emails about "think about your retirement vacations plans!" (20+ years from now)
I need a retirement brochure with "your choice of apocalyptic scenarios":
A decade ago, a hedge fund had an improbable viral comedy hit: a 294-page slide deck explaining why Olive Garden was going out of business, blaming the failure on too many breadsticks and insufficiently salted pasta-water:

These places are easy pickings for looters because the people who patronize them have little power in our society - and because those of us with more power are easily tricked into sneering at these places' failures as a kind of comeuppance that's all that's due to tacky joints that serve the working class.

@GottaLaff Nope, lady. (Cannon) ...just too difficult for your dumb -not remotely qualified to preside over this case- ass to understand. God help us all!
A lot of people who spent the last 10 years telling us that respect for the flag was the most important thing in the world suddenly don’t want us to care about who flies what flags how, I notice.
@baldur right. Such a lengthy regex necessarily has a lot of marginal cases that need to be verified or at least tested. But the state of practice being what it is, I imagine the developer wrote (at best) some random accept-reject tests, and trusted that the LLM verified the regex.
Which is asking a lot of something that demonstrably lacks mathematical reasoning but oh well.
Making that verification cognizable to developers is a very hard problem which of course LLMs don't solve; it's new.
@ramin_hal9001 yep, that's one of the next things I need to add. It's a pretty dumb language but it at least makes you feel like you're writing code :)
@Alexjgriffith yeah, I was actually surprised about that and started trying to make the game UI a bit more responsive. With a couple more media query tweaks I think it will be rather playable on mobile!
Man, in any sane universe the mayor would understand that well funded libraries and strong social services are what help to prevent crime in the first place
