One of my eBay saved searches alerted me to a new Commodore A1060 sidecar expansion. I would so love this to go with my Amiga 1000.
A PC hardcard in an ISA slot on the A1060 was the first official manner through which Commodore offered a hard disk expansion for the Amiga. A video card can be put in the unit to allow for dual-head usage of the Amiga 1000, one screen Amiga, one DOS PC. I'd love to get a Hercules in there, driving a side display.
I am finally the proud owner of an #Amiga2000 keyboard with Swiss layout.🥳
This renders my German keyboard obsolete as it has all the characters in the right places (for me) and even more. #retrogaming#retrocomputing#Commodore#Amiga
As a small child born in 1988 I've only ever interfaced with 80's computing as a retro endeavor but I would really like to read more.
Between the amiga, videotoaster, trackers, and demoscene, I'd love to consume some history and get first hand accounts about that like "computer arts" subculture.
Are there any good books or even articles I should check out??
Another AMOS programming tutorial video from me, and this time I’m looking at how to use Sprites in your program.
It’s not all smooth sailing though… 😱
I've got a fair number of German folks following and checking in on the stuff I share, so in honour of that and appreciation for doing so, I'm going to gush about one of my formative CRPG experiences that may be familiar to some of them!
Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny. Released in 1992 and 1993 and developed by Attic and based upon the Das Schwarze Auge TTRPG. Aka, the Dark Eye.
For some, the SSI Gold Box RPGs might have been their first taste of open-world CRPGs. Or perhaps Might & Magic or Elder Scrolls: Arena.
For me, it was Blade of Destiny. And holy shizz, it made such an impression on me.
I was into 2nd edition AD&D and loved video game adaptations but couldn't find any of the gold box games at my local game stores, Instead, and I'm pretty glad for it now, my parents and I did find RoA. And we ended up pretty much living and breathing it for months, exploring its epic slice of a fantasy world.
One of my favourite pieces of box artwork - and favourite games. UTOPIA: THE CREATION OF A NATION.
It's so rich with cool scifi detail, and I remember vividly adding it to my birthday or Christmas gift list the moment I saw this on the shelves of my local Beatties or Electronics Boutique in 1993/4. I was not disappointed and this and K-240 gobbled up so much of my time - and still does from time to time.
If you want to feel better today, play some retro games. A year ago I "invested" in #Amiga 1200 and a 14" Trinitron tube so I can capture that original feeling of 16-bit #VideoGames. LCD's are okay, but they cannot display the game as it was meant to be displayed so you are not really getting that retro kick out of them.
Today I recommend playing Bubble Bobble with your family. You will need two joysticks:
Why do people continue to talk about the “future of Amiga”? Like <insert random product here> is the future of Amiga. Would they also say something like the “C64OS is the future of C64”? Or ZX Spectrum Next is the future of ZX Spectrum?
Thanks to the lovely request from @vanacksabbadium I present to you my latest work.
Feast your eyes on the Shadow of the Beast 3 banner. 😊
I might actually do the banners for the part 1 and 2 as well, so stay tuned. 🙂 #amiga#art#retrogaming#oldgames
