Now this is #retrocomputing: someone has ported 40 year old #RTS from some uncertain #Forth dialect from the #AppleII to gForth. It originated a Byte Magazine article.
The game is playable on #Linux in a terminal at 40 columns. Someone else modernized the game to be 80 column native and make a handful of other quality of life improvements.
I have decided that Adventure Replay will have a screensaver mode (like Total Replay). But since the games don't have built-in demos like arcade games, I am adding hooks to each game to take commands from an external text file, then writing scripts where you die as quickly as possible.
Anyone need the PCB for a 16KB Apple II/II+ (not IIe) Language card? I had PCBway make me some but the smallest quantity is 5. So, I'll likely have 4 left over.
Thanks to @a2_qkumba, @txgx42, @helix_nrg, @Roughana, Frank M., Kris Kennaway, @ladyailuros, and everyone else who contributed to this project in the past four years.
Update: I patched all the pathname shenanigans and disabled the clock driver ($BF06:60, thanks @a2_qkumba), and now it's fully playable from a subdirectory on a hard drive.
#Mastodon for #AppleII, version 1.13.0 is released!
This release contains fixes for non-enhanced Apple II, lower-casing of outgoing toots for non-enhanced Apple II so that you don't need to scream at your followers, and RAM usage improvements.
So, I went to #appleii and asked them to talk me out of buying an apple iigs. They didn't try very hard, in fact they did the opposite. Anyway, check out my new system! It's a ROM 01 iigs with a 2mb memory card. I added a microdrive turbo from ReactiveMicro and I just got it booting into GS/OS 6.01. Next step is digging up a serial cable so I can hook up my RS232 wifi modem and see if I can't find some cool BBSs. #retrocomputing#apple2#retrocomputer#appleiigs
@lovebyteparty@deater78 I'm interested in entering some #appleii machine language in the 64- and 256-byte contests, but am not quite sure what format I need to submit. (.dsk + source?) Also, will the 4-byte DOS header count against the size limit?
They are an Apple II J-plus, the one on the left is my machine with the keyboard replaced. On the right is a perfect machine owned by a friend. It's very cool.
