after much configuration and long build times, I have managed to upload the 130+ albums from my :bandcamp: Bandcamp page to Faircamp, the amazing site generator by @freebliss for music catalogs by artists and/or labels.
What they do to #intersex children should HORRIFY everyone.
"Removal of gonads can end options for fertility and will lead to lifelong need for hormone #therapy. The genital surgeries done on intersex children can result in loss of sexual sensation and ongoing #pain. The procedures are #irreversible, in that tissue or organs that are removed cannot be replaced, nerves that are severed cannot be regrown, and scar tissue can limit options for future surgery."
Complementary and Disparate: Conceptualising Female and Male Genital Cutting in Northern Tanzania
Mary-Anne Victoria Decatur, PhD dissertation, U of London 2023.
Yes, I do read your dissertations!
"It is the normal, functioning cells of all foreskins that are deemed dangerous. And yet it is specifically Black male bodies that are being constructed as promiscuous sources of infection in need of medical intervention."
Freedom requires no-lock in, which is why we self host domains, don't we? Rather than building on somebody else's domain. Oh, you use Gmail. Still?! 🤦♂️
Our desire for ease in a difficult world is what betrays us.
So freedom requires we make the following easy to obtain:
How to know when you've crossed over to full, freakin' paranoia?? When you read an article like this & immediately envision #Christofascist legislation to grow "abandoned" frozen embryos via artificial wombs so they can become neglected, traumatized kids--oops, I mean properly-educated RW voters. Voila... the next anti-abortion tool. 🤦♀️
⚕️ 🌊 If this doesn't scare & infuriate you, I don't know what will.
"even if a pregnant patient had a prior written, notarized advance directive stating that they would not want to be kept on organ support if they weren’t likely to ever recover, a doctor could be required under 30 state laws to ignore those wishes and keep her alive.... in 12 of those states, that requirement would be in place even if the pregnancy was not viable."
Schloendorff v. Society of New York Hospital - Wikipedia
"Every human being of adult years and sound mind has a right to determine what shall be done with his own body; and a surgeon who performs an operation without his patient's consent commits an assault for which he is liable in damages. This is true except in cases of emergency where the patient is unconscious and where it is necessary to operate before consent can be obtained."

From riches to ankle bracelet: UK tech tycoon #MikeLynch’s stunning fall
I have little sympathy with either party. Many of us in the #technology business (and I was working at HP at the time) were amazed at the acquisition - or at least at the price they were paying.
But due diligence (the #HP CFO admitted to not reading the reports) was not on the books. #Apotheker was hell bent on exciting acquisitions.
More fool all of them. #US ‘justice' will prevail.
Thinking about that 2017 zine from Southern Illinois that set a bunch of regional #autonomy goals before this upcoming #eclipse on April 8, 2024. I'm sincerely curious about how they did and whether there will be a followup published.

Ayelet Libson, Am. J. Legal History (2016)
"This article examines the pre-modern conflict between these principles, revealing how the early tradition of Jewish law sustained different models of expertise, authority and personal autonomy."
[Thread] So, the following is from a presentation I gave at a Women and Gender Studies class I took in 2017 (as a Classics Major). I thought it was important to post here -- especially in this day and age where women's reproductive rights are being threatened. In some ways, we've taken a step backward as time has gone on...
Rape-Related Pregnancies in the 14 US States With Total Abortion Bans
Dickman et al., 2024
"...rape exceptions fail to provide reasonable access to abortion for survivors. Survivors of rape who become pregnant in states with abortion bans may seek a self-managed abortion or try to travel (often hundreds of miles) to a state where abortion is legal, leaving many without a practical alternative to carrying the pregnancy to term."
Gender-affirming care has a long history in the US – and not just for transgender people
G. Samantha Rosenthal for The Conversation (2023)
"Because of binary gender norms that celebrate height in men and smallness in women, doctors, parents and ethicists have approved the use of hormonal therapies to make children conform to these gender stereotypes since at least the 1940s."

Every "detransitioning" or "ex-trans" person is someone who was believed and supported by a doctor. That's a very different situation from most malpractice claims. In this case, the claim is that believing the patient is harmful to the patient. Where is the patient's responsibility to themselves?
