Splitting time today between the long task of processing photos from our recent #cruise and the long task of swapping out the Jetpack tiled gallery in heavy use on my site, and this photo is from the former long task.
This is the Powerscourt Estate in #Ireland and the #mountain peak in the distance is Great Sugar Loaf.
Forgot to upload any phone photo from our #cruise on the day we were anchored near South Queensferry, #Scotland. We ditched our original plan to head to Edinburgh with the masses and instead booked a local boat trip out under the three bridges (Forth Road and Rail, and Queensferry Crossing) and then to Inchcolm Island where we explored the 13th century abbey and engaged in a battle of wills with the population of angry gulls around.
We're in Le Havre today, resting our feet in a craft ale bar (surprise!) after walking around for several hours with no firm plans. We've seen some very nice sights and great architecture but none nicer than the Église Saint-Joseph designed by the mentor of Le Corbusier, Auguste Perret. It is absolutely incredible and really difficult to describe, sorry.
They held a #Eurovision trivia competition before the show and we've only gone and won it through some spectacular guesswork and low attendance because Americans who cruise really don't get this event. One bottle of ship champagne is ours. Ship. With a P.
Some of you may already know our spectacular 1:50 scale model of the Queen Mary 2 set on a diorama of the Dock 17 of the Hamburger Blohm + Voss shipyard built completely of #lego. This week we took some snapshots of her details for a plan we have for the diorama. Where is my #adaptive#cruise#control???? I used to pull down the shift lever once to get it, and twice for FSD/#Autopilot. Now it has a single pull down going to FSD. Of course they could have borked the adaptive cruise control speeds like they borked speed under FSD. I have no way to find out now.
I'm back from the cruise and I see the #markets didn't do anything of major interest. That's nice.
A good time was had by all on the trip. I kept my expectations low, but man, they were exceeded. There was so much to do on the ship, I could easily spend another week on it.
I snapped this photo when my wife and I went on a hike on Catalina Island while the kids stayed on the ship in the kids' watch areas they had there.
The #cruise life is over, and it's back to reality.

A dip into the #travel archive from on this day eight years ago. On that particular February 29th we'd just arrived in #BuenosAires and been escorted to the ship we'd be spending the next few weeks on, and as we were on an overnight flight we were aboard early, before most other passengers had arrived in #Argentina, having the ship mostly to ourselves. We would spend the following day exploring Buenos Aires and it was an incredible city.
