#Haaretz vs #NYT The photos and statistics Haaretz lost in translation
Also missing in translation, some of the gruesome statistics:
NYT: "women and children account for nearly 70 percent of all deaths reported in #Gaza even though most combatants are men — an “extraordinary statistic.”
Haaretz chose to simply state "many women and children". It provides the absolute numbers , just not the proportion of women and children, which are alarmingly high considering most, if not all, combatants are male.
Haaretz also repeats #IDF line about #Hamas numbers being inflated, even though experts quoted in the NYT article suggest their own estimates are very conservative, considering the type of bombs Israel is using.
"Those bombs are “really big,” said Mr. Garlasco, the adviser for the PAX organization. Israel, he said, also has thousands of smaller bombs from the United States that are designed to limit damage in dense urban areas, but weapons experts say they have seen little evidence that they are being used frequently."
What a monumental waste of money that could be used for development and improvement of the lives of many human beings.
Weapons manufacturers are having the best year ever, they should send all US, Israeli and European citizens a thank you card for their generous (involuntary) gift.
"Israel’s destruction of hospitals, education facilities and other vital infrastructure and the killing of over 13,000 people, half of them children, with missiles, bombs and high-tech weaponry cannot be described as war crimes or genocide, according to Anderson. They’re simply allegations, which are denied by Israel and cannot be independently verified, even though Israeli government leaders are openly proclaiming their genocidal intent."
