Alleged discovery of guns and grenades in #Gaza hospital has strong "mobile $Iraqi weapons lab" vibes to me. If Hamas were going to use a hospital as cover for a terrorist base, I'd have thought there would be something more substantial than half a dozen rifles
After the rage over the fake Israeli propaganda of 40 beheaded babies, where is the rage at 36 very real premature babies facing almost certain death because Israel cut off power to Al-Shifa hospital?
#Netherlands War in Gaza According to a confidential memo from the Dutch Defense Attaché in Tel Aviv, the Israeli army has "the intent to deliberately inflict enormous destruction on infrastructure and civilian centers" in #gaza. This strategy explains the "high number of deaths" among the civilian population.
[...] The memo was prepared by the Defense Attaché at the embassy, who closely monitors the situation around Gaza with a military team. According to the report, the Israeli political and military leadership has no clear strategy and the Israeli desire to definitively settle accounts with Hamas is "a military goal that is virtually impossible to achieve".
[...] The findings in the confidential report are in stark contrast to public statements made by the Israeli army in recent weeks, claiming to do everything possible to prevent Palestinian civilian casualties. According to the Hamas-controlled Palestinian Ministry of Health, more than 11,000 people have already been killed in Gaza since the start of the war. This weekend, Israel received heavy international criticism over the air and ground attacks around Al-Shifa Hospital.
[...] The memo shows that the Netherlands knows that Israel deliberately opts for a ruthless military approach that leads to large numbers of civilian casualties. Still, the Israeli actions are not publicly condemned by Rutte and outgoing Minister of Foreign Affairs Hanke Bruins Slot (CDA).
[...] The IDF, the embassy writes, tries to minimize its own casualties ("zero risk") in the ground offensive as much as possible and therefore uses lethal force ("shoot to kill") sooner. In addition, the embassy sees that the IDF is applying "elements" of the so-called Dahiya doctrine. This strategy, first applied in the 2006 Lebanon War, has "the intent to deliberately inflict enormous destruction on infrastructure and civilian centers," accepting large numbers of civilian casualties. The deliberate destruction of civilian targets is contrary to the laws of war, the memo states.
[...] Even if Hamas is almost completely neutralized, the fundamentalist movement's ideology will live on, the memo states. “There is no military answer to this, it is a political issue.”
[...] D66 leader and outgoing Minister for Climate and Energy Rob Jetten said on Sunday in Buitenhof that he believes Rutte should now call for a ceasefire, but D66 seems to stand alone in this within the outgoing cabinet.
I guess is an IDF's special skill.
You know, when you have the most precise weaponry in the world, and then accidentally bomb hospitals and schools; that kind of "ooopsy daisy" moment that all Western governments seem to believe Israel is having.
@HelenG I think it's admirable, but what will happen if/when all the concerned members will quit? There will be only one view and it'll become stronger and bold.
We need non-belligerent politicians.
