I wish the sync was faster, but it is what it is eh…

I just got a notification from @ordinarygamers from my discord server I setup (it’s kind of a mess ngl) and I normally watch his content on Odysee, just wish it was faster although I believe it takes time as per API requests. Takes time to upload to the LBRY network I believe… @lemmy

@kurt@pod.thing.org:> ### Open Source Video Monetarisierung?

Well it's come to that point. Sadly, it is now time to see what happens when your assets at were unwisely licensed under a license other than a license...

Because some as of yet unnamed (for profit) creditor now owns the code you're using to publish your videos.

There's plenty of blame to throw around between the "Inc." the "Foundation", the obvious demise of the original concept, but your thoughts?

I have serious issues with YouTube comments: they are used to spread so much misinformation and lies.

For example, for my latest video, many people have said that I am lying about emergency vehicles being able to go through the knip. Even though I literally SHOW FOOTAGE of emergency vehicles going through the knip.

This is a common lie being told about the project online.

But here's the problem ... 🧵

@notjustbikes Just switch to and allow all comments. Depending on the instance there won't be any bot users. is proprietary and applies monitization to all videos.
If your videos are blocked by YouTube, /Odysee might be an alternative too.

@kiriakos @fubo One thing I think a platform like needs to solve, which does (because it uses a blockchain) is the financial incentive for content creators without ads because right now you can't really make money on Peertube. On LBRY you can because it features its own currency and on of course but this is using ads. This is one of the advantages to using a blockchain. However LBRY's torrent like protocol for sharing video data is very slow and buggy which incentives the centralisation around odysee. The idea behind the project is great but not that well in practice if they don't make the protocol faster.

Everytime I go on Odysee, the content there seems to drift more and more towards conspiracy theories, complete disinformation and nonsense, or at worst ultra racist / xenophobic / hateful rethoric. The staff has a history of just saying amen to everything, including white supremacist stuff.

I’ve been thinking of abandoning it (I would keep PeerTube as the alternative to YouTube for people who really don’t want to use YT). Out of curiosity, a little poll about my content:

@thelinuxEXP @mrak Is Peertube actually usable right now if Linux/FOSS channels start leaving en masse?

How do we follow, watch, track views and comment on videos/channels across dozens of instances without a desktop client that can do that?

I think first we need a usable Peertube client that can do similar to what apps like @Tusky and @Fedilab offer for interacting with Mastodon accounts.
