Calico - The Goblin Monk
High among the peaks of Mount Shatterglass, deep within the windswept crags and crevices brave travelers may find, should they survive the treacherous paths and hordes of monsters, a small entrance to the caverns of Wisdom.
Inside these caverns the rooms are carved out of the mountain in a mingling of soot covered stone and dirty hard packed ice. The floor smooth and spotless, centuries of relentless pacing and daily activity forming an almost reflective surface, time and the fine sands of the hourglass working their magic against the very earth.
The lightning in these caverns is unnatural, the monks who lived in this small and sacred place, have cultivated a eerie mushroom that glows phosphorescent in the darkened space. Something in the way water interacts with the fungus causes an almost neon glow, providing light without heat. The monks, over time, have devised garden-like pockets of slowly trickling water drips down upon the mushrooms, giving them enough of the liquid to cast their light while not making the rooms damp or uncomfortable. The overall effect gave the caverns an almost tranquil and serene ambient quality.
High in the roost of the cavernous sanctuary, beyond the light and sound of the mushroom gardens and the brothers that tended them - a long and slight figure sits on a simple map of straw. This person, their robes heavy and folded over their form as they sat meditative seems to be staring at the vale shown vividly below. The roost is a window into the deep valleys of the mountains. Unprotected from the elements but by a small pocket of stone, the monk shifts slightly in the biting cold.
Calico, as he is known amongst the brothers, is an ancient and wise leader. A goblin, enslaved and brought to the mountains by the Dark Elves in a time long ago, Calico was said to have escaped capture and defeat his slavers with divine intervention. Whenever asked, he only smiles slightly and explains that what was meant to happen would always occur.
While friendly to errant scholars, Calico does not often tolerate speech with those who wish to debate and will simply ignore their advances. A student of observation, Calico tends to teach in fable and puzzles, expecting those he speaks with to think through his words to find the solution.
Calico is a Goblin, but is the leader of this religious community of meditative monks. In physical battle, Calico deploys a wide range of physical and psychological attacks on his foes.

Dafür gibt es im August ein neues Thema bei den #NSC23 - Handwerkerinnen. Ausgestorbene Handwerke, Gesellinnen, Lehrlinge und Meisterinnen. Mal schauen, was ich da so auftue. :D
