Definitely a windy day out there. I-90 at the PA/NY state line was closed due to 3 trucks being blown off the road. A grocery store in North East, PA had power lines crash thru it. About 20% of Erie County, PA and Chautaqua County, NY is without power. PA 5 and PA 89 was closed due to trees on the road. Dunkirk, NY recorded a 74mph wind gust before it got knocked offline.
I-86 and I-90 have Tier 2 restrictions in place for PA.
Another couple of rounds of good rain for #NYwx and #VTwx this weekend and next week. National Water Model is signaling some decently high flows, but we're in the low side of the annual hydrograph in these parts, so there should be some channel storage available. But, we are seeing #flood forecasts up to minor flood already. ECMWF Extreme Forecast Index is highlighting the Champlain region and Adirondacks for rainfall on Sat/Sun. The flooding in NYC looks like it should be from a storyline in Extrapolations, but sadly is climate change reality. Heartbreaking to see. Heartbreaking to know this is the new norm. Heartbreaking to watch governments and industry do less than what is necessary.
