It's time to move beyond Netanyahu's obstruction of a #TwoStateSolution which he obviously doesn't intend.
Maybe it's time to recognise a #PalestinianState - with imprecise borders and under occupation (incl by Hamas). Recognise the PA, but with a requirement for elections before year end.
The Spanish, Irish & Norwegian govts announced Wed that they would recognize a #Palestinian state, saying there would be no #peace in the #MiddleEast w/o it.
Israel denounced the move as giving aid to its enemy #Hamas.
The coordinated announcements are purely symbolic — but not w/o some power.

The #UnitedStates govt reiterated its position that recognizing a #PalestinianState was premature & must be the result of direct negotiations between Israel & the #Palestinians.
CBS Radio News has been playing a clip, off and on all day, of my United States Senator, Bernie Sanders, saying that Israel has a right to defend itself and to respond to the horrific terrorist attack from Hamas, but it does not have a right to wage war against an entire people.

OP claimed that the Palestinian Authority is not related to the State of Palestine using #Wikipedia as a source, then I pointed out that the president of the PA and SoP are the same, and even Wikipedia says that the PA has pretty much become synonymous with the Palestinian state in 2013 when the PA has directed that all official documents it produced is to be marked under the name "State of Palestine". Look… I’m as furious with Joe Biden’s support for Israeli genocide as any proper progressive leftist. I feel personally betrayed by our current policies. That said, we can work on that and have momentum in our favor. Just look at what’s happening on our college campuses, surely a positive harbinger of things to come. I also understand the existential threat to democracy and all we hold dear that DJ Trump and his remade fascist #Republican party represent to us all.
