Happy 79. Birthday to Charlie Harper, British singer, songwriter and lead singer of the punkrock band UK Subs, born on this day in 1944, Hackney, London.
I spoke to Moby recently about the first time he heard punk rock, his early years in the hardcore scene, how punk led him to veganism, and - of course - The Punk Rock Vegan Movie.
UK punk band from the 70s/80s that you may not have heard. They were storming the UK underground around the time the US was experiencing The Runaways, with Joan Jett. If you like one, you’ll probably like the other.
Why is it so much more nerve-wracking sharing my music when it has lyrics and vocals compared to instrumental tracks?
Anyway, here's a simple little punk song song about the inability of armchair economic 'reformists' to see beyond the structures of the unjust systems they live in:

XTC slumped on their 2nd album. Whether because they were on the road and needed material, or because it was hard to have two Dick-tators in one band (Partridge and Andrews), it’s not clear.
This has some good songs (Moulding is learning how to write, “Are You Receiving Me?” Is great Partridge), but the two Andrews songs aren’t…and “My Weapon”, well, geez.
How many things are on your Bandcamp wishlist? Comment em! I wanna see!
Here's mine. The bands here are a weird mix, but I listen to some of these almost daily. Many are SUPER catchy, and some I've mentioned on here before. (Warning: some brutal metal/odd cover art/song titles, etc are here, too).

China Girl" is a song written by Iggy Pop and David Bowie during their years in Berlin, first appearing on Pop's debut solo album, The Idiot (1977) and released as single on this day in 1977.
The song became more popular when it was re-recorded by Bowie and re-released in 1983
It's so cool how music is cyclical, how bands clearly influence each other. Everything comes back around again, and I love that. I've loved the music of The Clash and The Kinks for so many years, but now that their time has passed, new bands definitely have their feel.
Roda Lits gives me HUGE Kinks vibes. This album is less than 20 minutes long, too. Short songs and albums are so great sometimes. (Warning- album art appears to perhaps be a [scientific style, NOT overly gory/metal style] dissection photo, just fyi, if that kind of stuff disturbs you) https://bellybuttonrecords.bandcamp.com/album/common-specimen-indoor-mold
