Nuclear Throne is an incredible game, just as I'd heard. I'm glad I jumped on it finally. Figuring out the different random power-up mutations, the runs are fun as hell, twin stick shooting, permadeath, it's a blast. It's tough! But I'm gonna keep trying to get to that throne 🔫
The dates for the Roguelike Celebration for 2024 have just been announced - it will be October 19th and 20th this year.
@roguelike_con is now accepting submissions for proposals until June 30th to present at the event - see guidelines and submission form here (and you can email them from there too with any questions): https://www.roguelike.club/cfp.html
Done a couple Larn runs the last couple days, some better than others. You learn things every time. For example, hell hounds can kill you pretty much instantly. 😂
The Turn-Based Thursday Fest starts today on Steam and goes for 4 days (until April 8). It's pretty funny browsing through the list of games included, as half of them are already on my wishlist 😂
An excellent indie #Roguelike ( Thanks @jake4480 ) that runs on current machines (Windows, Linux, MacOS, & HTML5). Frankly, very good! Good surprise! I would have liked it to be compatible with older machines, but no. Two quality PDF manuals. On my list of favorite Roguelikes! If you like this kind of game: recommended! :0)
Trying out GodoRogue tonight. It's great! You can use the keyboard commands or mouse directly to different locations, how you can see in the screenshot - the yellow line. And you can play this one in-browser. It was made in HTML5!
One of my major hobbies is dying and losing the game in Demon's Tier+ just on tier 1, forever and ever, for all time, never making it to tier 2. Tier 1 must be good enough. 🤣
Twitch surprisingly runs really well in-browser on my S23. Nice that I can watch someone play #Nethack in real-time without even using an app. And watching in-browser (Firefox), there are no ads.
Double dipped on @SpaceMyFriend's Cavity Busters for the Switch today. It's on sale on the eshop for just $10.61 until March 7. Grabbed it on Xbox when it went on sale there a while back, too.
It's THAT good of a game.
If you're into roguelikes, twin stick shooters, bullet hells, you may dig.
Rotwood looks great - an almost isometric kinda roguelike. Check the trailer. Very much my kind of game. I'll be trying this when it comes out.
The demo is in the Steam Next Fest (link below) and you can play it free the next few days. And you totally should, and you should tell me how it is, since I have nothing to play it on. 😂
I finally got to Grit Gate! man these guys seem... isolationist and rather up themselves. They remind me a bit of the hub01 guys from #cataclysmdda
I even got a cool side quest to be a detective for a farming village on the way there. Really felt like the lone ranger at that point...
I'm really enjoying Qud. The main storyline is quite cool. But I also like diving the random other ruins. Especially now that I have a recoiler so won't get lost endlesssly underground like I've done at least once before...
If you do the Xbox thing like I do sometimes and like roguelikes or shooters, today is the last day Cavity Busters is on sale there - under $9!
I had to grab it. Been wanting to try it for a while. It's not too much more expensive usually (like, around $12) and it's on Steam and Switch too. It's a wild looking roguelike shooter type with teeth and bodies.
Today I spotted on Steam my most played games of 2023, which admittedly wasn't much, since I only had the old Windows 7 machine to play them on. My top 4 were unsurprisingly Glorkian Warrior: The Trials Of Glork, Rogue, Save me Mr Tako: Definitive Edition, and SanctuaryRPG: Black Edition.
Something REALLY wild though was this spider graph that definitely nails my game preferences.
