The dates for the Roguelike Celebration for 2024 have just been announced - it will be October 19th and 20th this year.

I've managed to convert my Dungeon Generator over to Godot.
Took me literally all day to get the Corridors code working, and it still needs a lot of tweaking.
And this is just a Map. So much more to turn it into anything useful.

Rooms generated as random, non-overlapping, rectangles, then centres joined in turn.

Next: align corridors and trim unneeded ones

Janky programmer art, but enemies next move is visualized. Experienced players basically always knew this, but I think it might be a good (new, especially) player experience to just be explicit about it. I have Into the Breach in mind -- where enemy behavior is telegraphed for you.

Happy and flabbergasted to report that Piss and Vinegar, the traditional game I made for the 7 Day Roguelike challenge, came in 7th out of 160. I've spent the last month mainly looking at everything I should've done differently, but apparently I got some things right after all.

Hey folks, the beta for Shattered Pixel Dungeon v2.4.0 should be ready to start this coming week!

The beta will have everything I've shown off so far, including a new item category, changes to alchemy, and changes to the Duelist. There are also some levelgen additions! Entrance and exit rooms in particular are going to become more visually varied.

The idea behind the super potion quaff is for a rare item that gives you a status effect that is counting down in real time, but your invulnerable to all damage.

So you gotta go fast!

I've picked Cobalt Core back up after a few months away. Still the that's given me the most joy on my .

I love the weird unlockable wooden ship that takes a free evade action (whether you want it or not!) when you play a card from either end of your hand. Pair it with Riggs and all her own evasive-power cards, and it becomes a very dodgy craft, in every sense of the word. Great fun!

- LOOT🪙!
1: right-click to drop items on to the map
2: enemies can drop loot
3.right-click in inventory to use items (healing potion!)
4.walk over items to bring them into the inventory for use
:godot:

apple is pulled from inventory and right clicked to drop it on the map. enemy is defeated (hero takes a lot of damage). health potion is used from inventory to heal up. enemy dropped leather armor when defeated, hero picked it up then equipped it

Now that my roguelike is out in Early Access, I'm starting to release regular updates.
There won't be an update next week, but expect one the week after.

This week I've been working on the UI - adding onscreen buttons and extra menus.
