Back on track with my training plan. I ran for 12 km and the weather conditions were ideal. 14°C, a cloudy sky, no wind, no rain or big annoying water puddles.
Sleep, sweet sleep. So refreshing! And it also serves as a powerful running speed enhancer. As I was starting my run, I expected my pace to be in the usual 5:20-5:35 range on the outset and faster after some kilometers. But today was different, as I started with 5:17 and then went below 5:00/km and kept that pace for some time. Sweet. So my main takeaway is: More sleep. (I knew this well in advance, but I have to state the obvious…) Have a great Sunday, y‘all! #Running#applewatchultra2
Pup's new red collar was whipped up by me this afternoon with material and hardware that had been salvaged from broken items. The clasps and D ring came from a puppy carrier that didn't last and the material was a strap on a reusable bag with a short lifespan. Anything that breaks, if I can't repair it, I salvage whatever I can for future projects.
Quite pleased with this! A quick and satisfying make! The other day I also made a big pillow, hemmed a blanket, and I sewed a headlamp onto my waist pack belt for an upcoming race. I will still wear a headlamp but it's nice to have a backup that lights up the ground right in front of me without looking down.
#Ottawa#Marathon is in 8 days! I feel ready, but I'm still worried.
I'm not sure my taper is long enough. I feel the accumulated fatigue still.
I'm really not heat-adapted yet (way too early in the season). I hope it's not going to be suddenly 25/30°C...
I don't know if air quality will be affected by the fires (it looks possible)
Still... my fitness seems good enough! #running
One of the largest HM in the world happened today in Göteborg. My new employer sponsors runners 👊 (signup fee, tent in the starting area with drinks, bbq, etc). Though I have my main ultra race next week I participated and took it as a training run (easy tempo pace without pushing it, definitely not race pace ). My start was at 1345 with over 30C in the sun (26C regular). 🥵😎. It was a fun event. More than 200000 spectators along the course. (Haven’t run it since 2004 (1:19 - 20 years later 20 minutes slower 🤣)). Legs felt quite fresh after it. Ran back home 🙈 (4km). Heat was noticeable on the HR. But it didn’t had an effect on my hydration needs. Took only small sips every 5K at the aid stations. 🤷♂️. Good day. #trailrunning#runninghttps://www.goteborgsvarvet.se/
@sebastianhahn@recollir@officehippy Castle? Cabin in the woods is my my style. And I doubt I could be a Count. My distain for the pretensions of nobility would really challenging. 🤣
#running I enjoy having a hat with a giant shade that is SPF 50, and I am considering getting some sleeves as well. Does any of you have recommendations on sleeves that cover the skin but are still cool to wear when running in the sun? Does this technology even exist?
I’m running the Hackney Half tomorrow with my wife tomorrow. This is probably the least training I’ve done for a race ever due to injury and life. However I’m looking forward to not going too hard and enjoying the atmosphere. 🙂

I am thinking about upgrading my equipment for #running a little.
I own: barefoot shoes for running, and at the moment I use the Strava app, I have an old Mi Band 4 to measure the heart-rate, but can’t link it with the app.
Clothes now are old band shirts and cotton shorts.
Do polyester shirts really make sense relating to staying dry?
Also considering getting a Garmin Venu 3or2 for better measurement/tracking.
What do you use? :)
@a_whole_lotta_love yeah I keep a couple healthy things that bring joy or fun get some exercise look for some wild plants. When exe isn’t working great it helps clear my mind even a half out of being in nature.
Never actually carb loaded for a race before and been eating pasta, bagels and overnight oats as well as keeping myself hydrated. Just hoping that what has gone in, the waste has come out 😳💩 #running#runnersproblems
@dredmann666 I never have, even at that speed, but it’s important to remember that we’re all different. You know your body best; if you feel you need to, then I’d folllow that. You can always try not doing g it another time and see if it makes any difference.
