EUSPA is linking GOVSATCOM services with authorised government users📡

For fire brigades, police, military, coast guard and other authorised users, this pooling of secure services means they won’t need to find and book them directly from the service providers – a process that could delay emergency response efforts. By always having some SatCom services reserved for EU Member States, GOVSATCOM reduces the risk of commercial services being unavailable.

Of course I'm very concerned about all of from & inability for to report to public, from the ground. My bigger worries about this intentional communications blackout is that it affects all organizing communications & all on the ground communications. Those are the most important communications ATM for all civilians & aid workers, trapped under constant siege bombardment.

@msquebanh AFAICT, connectivity of the most critical parts is still up and running.

So in addition to cluttering up low earth orbit, wrecking terrestrial astronomy, creating the potential for a Kessler Syndrome cascade which could close access to space, and creating a national security nightmare, Starlink internet access is a climate catastrophe using up to 30 times more carbon footprint per internet subscriber than land based internet.

Heads up!
Major outage.
4F1 - 143E - APAC seems to be down for both C-Band and L-Band.
We have double checked our systems and best we can tell, the classic AERO signal for both bands is just gone.

I’m late to the party but congratulations to the Indian Space Agency for being the fourth country to land on the moon.

The trip cost $75 million which is cheaper than a bunch of Hollywood movies about going to space including Gravity & Interstellar.

The space race is back.

In short: unless it's a constantly moving vehicle or vessel that has to operate far away from any permanent settlement or shores, there's hardly any need that justifies amidst the high cost, high latency and low bandwiths.

I've been asked a lot recently what I would do if I won the lotto. Most of my responses are white bread boring, pay off the houses, cars, upgrade a few things. But being the nut that I am, I would definitely purchase this place, renovate it, USE it, and have a blast.

Can you imagine reading someone's resume that says they hacked the government's satellite in space? This is folks wet dream. A SpaceX rocket ferrying cargo to the International Space Station on Sunday had a special little payload that will remain in orbit:

A satellite designed to be hacked from Earth at DEF CON. This August teams will compete to prod and hijack Moonlighter. https://www.theregister.com/2023/06/03/moonlighter_satellite_hacking/

AST BlueWalker 3 satellites, which are providing Starlink V2-like (which are likely going to be larger/brighter than v1) functionality, have an average brightness near zenith of 1.4.

This compares to 4.7, 6.2 and 5.5 for Original, VisorSat and Post-VisorSat models of Starlink v1 satellites.

Unlike Starlink satellites, BW3 has no significant areas of specularly reflecting materials.
