So, turns out that the Steam Deck sold 80 to 100 units in 2 days in the store where it launched in Japan, how do now feel about this kind of outcome?

One thing I did find interesting about launching Brutal Legend on Steam Deck was that it launched with Proton instead of the native Linux build.

What's the best way to listen to music on mode? I'm currently running chrome in the background but skipping/changing songs is a bit of a hassle.

I'm making my first Decky plugin. This one's simple; just some bookmarks in a sidebar menu. It should work with both web sites and internal Steam pages while in gaming mode.

I also plan on trying a more ambitious plugin: add a scrolling "app row" much like the Switch's circle buttons on its home screen. Ideally they'll be able to link to any app, including hidden ones; to system pages; to bookmarks via an API; and to Decky plugins in the sidebar.

The top 20 most-played games of April 2023 is up now! It doesn't have a ton of changes, but seeing DREDGE on the list is fantastic!

I, for one, welcome our new Steam-Deck-killing, Windows-running overlords

How the Asus ROG Ally and other handheld PCs could make Steam Decks even better.

jrdepriest,

@arstechnica I look forward to competition hopefully proving that Linux is actually great for portable gaming, why would you use Windows?
I was skeptical AF about the , but I'm fully on board. I game almost exclusively on my SteamDeck. I was playing Elder Scrolls Online on it last night. It easily handles any Roguelike or ARPG I've played. It ran Fallout 4 fine.
And it's only getting better.
Why would you want the overhead of Windows? The restrictions? Why do they keep doing this?

The only games I play on my Windows laptop are Guild Wars 2 and Star Trek Online, both because the button mapping would be ridiculous for me to memorize. But it could play them. I ran Guild Wars 2 on it and it looked great.
If I added a docking station and external monitor, I could play them on the Deck.
