On this day one year ago we opened our #Mastodon instance, #VivaldiSocial. The first browser company to do so. 🎉
We believe a distributed, open standards, non-tracking #SocialNetwork is a better solution than the current popular social networks which build massive profiles on users and contribute to division and hate.
We’re happy to be part of the #Fediverse and are grateful that more than 40 000 people have chosen Vivaldi Social as their home. 🏠
There's a lot of talk about social media these days: #Twitter restrictions and changes, #Meta#Facebook launching #Threads.
And there's #Mastodon which is open & decentralized. That's why we became the first browser to have our own server here - #VivaldiSocial.
Vivaldi Social has no ads and your behavior is not tracked or analyzed for vested interests. It is all about what you like, who you want to follow and interact with. You have control. :tony_happy:

Hello #VivaldiSocial , I am CJ, known elsewhere as OrbitalMartian. I have always been in love with Vivaldi and have recently gone all in using Vivaldi with the new iOS release. If anyone had any tips of how to improve workflows across devices and that, that'd be appreciated.
Having spend about two weeks on the browser full time (since stable release) and months before that on the Testflight beta. I can thoroughly say I have enjoyed the experience and it is very easy to sync across my devices.

Some new social media services have opened up. I am recommending to artists that they create accounts on each of the following three. Whether or not you plan to use all (or any) of these, you will have reserved your professional name.
Time will tell which social tools stay around, but these do look promising.
Bluesky Social opened to all in early 2024. The code, designed by Twitter founders, is open source and will federate like Mastodon. Some users are already working on bridge code to get Bluesky and Mastodon protocols interacting with each other.
The Mastodon fediverse is well established. Open source, no ads, multiple servers appealing to multiple communities.
You can create a Mastodon account easily through Vivaldi Social. The interface is clean. The Vivaldi server is in Iceland, so privacy standards are EU.
Threads launched in late 2023. Meta (Mark Zuckerberg empire) has Threads playing very nicely with Instagram (also Zuck). In time (Zuck says) Threads will integrate with the Mastodon fediverse.
