I promised I'd be giving updates on #Iceshrimp's #dotnet C# rewrite -a brand new fedi platform really- so here's where we're at at the moment! The backend's basic functionality is more or less finished, although there will undoubtedly be stuff to fix and improve during beta. So theoretically you could use it, but we don't have a frontend yet so you could use it only with masto apps atm. However, the frontend is where the focus is going now, and we plan to have a basic/working frontend soon so that we can release our first beta in a couple of weeks or so!

We expect performance and server requirements to be comparable to #Akkoma. Things are about to get exciting!

Folks, please go and use this gentleman's home grown search engine. He literally runs it out of his basement. Mikkel is on Matrix as well, and you can message him.

These are the projects we need to support.

Nice thing about being on an instance that you forget about on : The kind of platform someone is on (mastodon, misskey, etc) is made clear in their handle through a logo.

It really emphasises the diversity of the fediverse, while being on mastodon everyone looks the same and you start to feel like the whole fediverse is just mastodon.

It’s minor and doesn’t interfere with the UI at all. It’s just a small flourish of detail.

I made the way to delete some cookies from #Vivaldi #browser then cdrom.tokyo came back.

Tried to make a post with a gif image in. Suddenly cracked down and got blank. Had to delete the cookies again. Just sent some text, took some seconds to post.

Why it takes too long time for a post?
Why it fails when I upload an gif?

I'm getting sick of cdrom.tokyo

• It always gets down
• It gets blank most times and I have to figure out how to solve to delete certain files to make that site back.

I think I should abandon it...

Can anyone help me how could I delete the temporary files from Vivaldi browser?

I guess I will dedicate more to minidisc.tokyo even it have several issues too.

After unsuccessfully trying to get #mastodon, #pleroma, #akkoma, and #honk working on #OpenBSD, I installed and configured #snac relatively easily.

What a nice surprise. Thanks @grunfink

browser failed again. I don't know why is that issue so singular with cdrom.tokyo site that becomes blank and I'm forced to delete all data from Vivaldi to make the site back online. (even I have to re-log in every site and make new passwords for each accounts.
Happened the same with the other apps as and Dissenter before. Is that because of cdrom.tokyo?
I don't get.

And now, the site is working so slow... is that me or the server?

Help me...

Hey peeps, is anyone else periodically getting dropped interactions from Mastodon dot Social?

I’ve noticed a few times when I view an interaction on another instance that sometimes, there’s posts from there that never show up here…and using Webfinger doesn’t seem to work? 🤔

Super confusing, not really sure what’s causing it.

atomicpoet, to random

Does anyone know of a Pleroma or Akkoma web client or front-end that has a deck UI?

I’m asking because it’s apparently what many people want.

maegul,
@maegul@hachyderm.io avatar

@atomicpoet

FYI, for those #akkoma / #akkomane users interested ...

phanpy (eg, phanpy.social) seems to work well with akkomane / akkoma.

It provides deck/columns and picks up on the longer post length too.

No separate post editing view though ... but you can pop it out into a separate window.

No awareness of the local only visibility, which reveals how dire mastodon's influence over that feature has become IMO.

And the wonderful catch-up feature seems to work too!

Let's talk about

Akomma is Fediverse software — like Mastodon, Misskey, Lemmy, PeerTube, Pixelfed, and many others.

is a fork

But —

What is an "akkoma"‽
Where did that name come from‽

Why is the tag-line for Akkoma:
"magically expressive social media"‽

And what is the meaning behind the Akkoma logo‽

reiver,
@reiver@mastodon.social avatar

2/

The TL;DR version of —

• what is an "akkomo"‽,
• where did the "akkoma" name come from‽,
• why is the tag-line for ‽, “magically expressive social media”‽,
• what is the meaning behind the Akkoma logo‽,

… is this (in the attached image).

🙂

If that isn't enough of an explanation, keep on reading.

3/

Let's focus on the "Akkoma" name first.

is named after a fictional anime character nicknamed Akko.

“Akko” is the nickname of the fictional anime character named: Atsuko Kagari.

Atsuko Kagari is a fictional anime character from the anime: Little Witch Academia.

So, what about the Akkoma logo‽ —

@reiver@mastodon.social avatar

4/

Look at the logo.

Now look at the Atsuko Kagari (a.k.a. Akko) — the fictional character from Little Witch Academia anime.

The Akkoma logo is a stylized (upper-case) letter "A" with Atsuko Kagari's witch's hat on it.

@reiver@mastodon.social avatar

5/

By this point, you probably already have a sense of why the tag-line is:

“Magically expressive social media”.

BONUS №1 —

Do you remember my "Happy Halloween" post from the year 2023 🙂

The image I attached was an homage to both and Akko (Atsuko Kagari).

Look at the hat 🙂

It looks like the hat in the Akkoma logo.

But it also includes more features of Akko's hat than the Akkoma logo includes.

BONUS №2 —

There are some Internet-memes based on Atsuko Kagari (a.k.a Akko) — i.e., the inspiration for the name, logo, and tag-line of the Fediverse software.

is Akkoma with the front-end. (It gives Akkoma (what I feel is) a better user-experience.)

...

Also, here is a bonus of where the name "Akkoma" comes from:

I agree with @deadsuperhero. If you are using and have an phone, then @moshidon is the client for you.

It supports stuff like long posts, emoji reactions, quote posts, scheduled messages, and Markdown.

Plus, it looks great!

Okay, if you’re on , @moshidon is legit a fantastic client for Android. This is straight up my default client now. It supports:

  • Markdown / MFM
  • Emoji Reacts
  • Quote Posts
  • Bubble Timeline

Plus it looks great, has a ton of customization options, and you can tweak a ton of different pieces to make it do what you want?!
