Don’t miss your chance to see the cryovolcanic "devil comet."

@popsci has the details on Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, which won’t be visible again until 2097.

On March 5, @IRAP delivered the functional electrical model of the Low-Energy Electron Spectrometer (1 eV-1 keV) which is part of the (Dust, Fields, Particles) experiment. The future is on the way! 👍

This is the surface of a comet! Dust is swirling around the surface of Comet 67/P -- captured in 2016 by ESA's Rosetta spacecraft, processing by Jacint Roger Perez.

Still one of the most remarkable scenes in space exploration.

Halley's Comet won't reappear until 2061, but Pons-Brooks is a similar big, long-period comet putting -- and it's putting on a show right now.

You'll need good binoculars, but oh is it pretty. Photo taken on Monday by Michael Jäger.

Comet Pons-Brooks is currently low in the west after sunset for Northern Hemisphere viewers, not far from the Andromeda galaxy in the sky.

Here's another lovely view of the comet, taken on March 2 by Michael Jäger.

It's been exactly 1 year since I uploaded my video on how to process a picture of a comet using Siril. New comets are visible and the technique still works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XrdNxMqW9g @Siril_Official
My hair was crazier back then...

On to #8 on Let's go back to the night of 11th February when the beautiful green Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) was really close to the planet Mars in the sky. The contrast in colour was beautiful!

Arrgghh, there is so much beauty beyond our atmosphere (don't get too sappy, everything in space wants to kill us).

But look at this beautiful image capture by Damian Peach, catching C/2020 V2 (ZTF) in front of a trio of Galaxies in the constellation Grus. 🔭🧪

#Timelapse of the frames used for that #Comet #12P #PonsBrooks shot up thread. So many more satellites, a few years ago I'd expect maybe 3-4 or in a shot like this. Doesn't really affect anything in this case (unlike the airplanes, which were bright enough to show up in a 240 frame average after stretching) but definitely noticeable
