This week's #TuneTuesday theme is #MyGenerationMusic. I was born in April of 1980, and there were SEVERAL great albums that came out that year.
But my top choice for that year has to be DEVO.
Devo released their third record Freedom of Choice in May 1980 with the magical song (and my favorite song on the album) 'Gates of Steel' opening up its second side.

Decisions affecting Yorkshire are often made far away or muddled by a complex structure of regional government – isn’t devolution the obvious solution? | John Hall
In case you were thinking about doing so, Scottish and general independence friends, don't listen to last night's episode of The News Agents. I doubt you were going to anyway, but nevertheless. Don't. Unless you've got a few items to hand that you don't mind getting smashed. #MediaBias#ScottishIndependence#Devolution
We are in a political wasteland https://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2023/12/15/we-are-in-a-political-wasteland/. The Tories are governing n the basis of fantasies, prejudices and lies. And despite the fact that the political right wing have so clearly left reality behind Labour refuses to consider electoral reforms that would prevent such utterly irresponsible people from ever governing again. We are in a political wasteland where hope no longer exists.
What electoral reforms? #PR will result in #farage & likely #braverman leading groups of far right MPs - and the left is not as good at machine politics as the right so will split & bicker whilst the Right govern - see also Italy, Hungary, Israel.....changing political systems in a world tainted by lies & conspiracy theories will not help by itself
#Devolution of as much as possible to regional govt might be helpful - electors could compare with their neighbours.

"Foreign affairs are reserved. Scotland is not, as yet, independent. Until we are, this is the kind of high-handed disrespectful guff we chose not to escape from when we had the chance to do so a decade ago, and will be stuck with until we finally have the cojones to be a normal, self-governing country. ...."
This seems to be an eminently sensible idea — given the woeful state of BBC #Scotland with its moribund output only rarely punctuated by non English licking programming. The Conservatives and New Tories won’t like it — losing control of a unionist propaganda channel is a no-no…
Scottish Government calls for decriminalisation of drugs for personal use and for supervised drug consumption rooms.
"We want to create a society where problematic drug use is treated as a health, not a criminal matter, reducing stigma and discrimination and enabling the person to recover and contribute positively to society." - @scotgov Minister Elena Whitham.
