It is 40 years since the release of the original #Ghostbusters. As far removed from that point in time as 1944 was from 1984.
Can you imagine a studio executive in 1984 insisting that they should invest hundreds of millions of dollars in a loose sequel to Double indemnity or the Woman in the Window?
I mean... I wish they were making sequels to #films from 1944 as this list of releases is insane modern #Hollywood hasn't made this many great films in the last decade.
i watched Arrival. good film.
i liked the static shooting, it complemented the film's slow pace. generally well acted and scored.
the plot was dramatic and weighty, though a little contrived at times.
i especially liked how little of the setting was explained. you get the sense that world & implications of the plot are much, much wider than the protagonist and scope of the film. very lovecraftian.
Absolutely loved "Cat Person" on Netflix. The film brilliantly portrays what it's like to date as a young woman, while masterfully exposing how society's expectations and pressures (and sometimes lack thereof) cause immeasurable harm to everyone. A must-watch for anyone who has, is currently, or will someday date other humans... Also anyone who appreciates the accomplishment of creating almost unwatchably cringe sex scenes.
