While its good to see that books still hold their own (in revenue generating terms) with films & music (they outperform both), the big news is that video games generated more revenue globally than books & music combined.
As someone who has never played a video game, but reads a lot of books, I'm not sure how I feel about this... but it tells us something about where the globe's creative & receptive energies seem to be spent.
Had lowered expectations and they were met. Wasn't expecting much. Didn't get much.
Typical #Netflix Sandler #movie with the added bonus of cameos from the ASEU (Adam Sandler extended Universe).
Sandler must have a lot of friends that owe him favors or need money.
This is what we get for not nominating him for Uncut Gems
Having seen the film American Fiction several hours ago on Amazon Prime, I think that I would much prefer to see this again compared to Oppenheimer. I do think Oppenheimer deserved its Oscar Best Picture win, and it was high time that Christopher Nolan won Best Director too, but American Fiction was funny, witty, and relevant. Writer and director Cord Jefferson deserved his Oscar Best Adapted Screenplay win for this hell of a movie.
Rob Reiner's limp #romcom wastes Kate Hudson and Luke Wilson as they generate no sparks.
Takes so long for the story to begin, but there's no actual humor to keep the scenes afloat and your attention from wavering.
At least it's not as bad as North. Makes you want to read a book which isn't a bad thing in itself if it gets you to avoid this.
I’m a sucker for procedural #journalism films (The Post, She Said, and Spotlight, which won the Oscar Best Picture in 2016) so I watched Netflix’s Scoop, which is about the infamous BBC Newsnight interview of Prince Andrew in the wake of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. I had the fortune (?) of not having seen this interview so it was interesting seeing how it all came about. The film wasn’t as good as the earlier films, but it was fascinating viewing all the same.
The songs on the 1987 animated movie The Chipmunk Adventure really have no business being so good! “Off To See The World”, “The Girls of Rock ’n Roll”, “Diamond Dolls”, “My Mother”, and “Chipmunk Adventure Theme” are just some of the songs that I really enjoy and give a hit of childhood nostalgia.
