More horrors from Meta software. The stuff reportedly happening shouldn't be possible with the End to End encryption of your conversations Whatsapp tells you it has enabled.
Threads-worshipping Fediverse Admins? THIS IS WHO YOU ARE GETTING INTO BED WITH.
One of the most valuable life lessons I've been learning recently is that I'm not responsible for other people's choices, and I don't need to feel guilty for not thinking about people if they're making no visible effort to think about me.
I've done a lot of running around after people this last few years, based on not a lot more than Guilt. Sure, I've got stuff out of that but, honestly, screw that one-sided bullshit. I'm awesome and they know where to find me. I'll be happily living my life until they remember I exist. With so many folks I've done my dues, and I'm just not seeing the benefit of that angst and effort. When folks can't even bother to check in via Facebook, one of the laziest forms of keeping-in-touch ever invented...shrug
Boundaries, eh? What a concept.
(Sidenote: yes this me preparing to leave that awful despicable platform. The evaluation of what benefit I'm actually getting from my small collection of personal links that exist nowhere else but there, the only reason I'm still there, has been pretty dismal. I think that's given me enough reason to finally escape it.)
Meta wants you to keep Facebook Link History on, here’s why you shouldn’t:
“Meta injects special “keylogging” JavaScript onto the website you’re visiting that allows the company to monitor everything you type and tap on, including passwords.”
My wife is looking forward to deleting her Instagram account once she can connect with the same folks from her Mastodon account. Being able to remain in touch with over 100M people who still use Meta products out of the comfort of an ad-free, privacy-friendly platform like Mastodon is a game changer.
I really hope @mwadmin are going to defederate from #threadsapp
I believe people are still waiting for your exact position on the subject, or I couldn't find the info. #FuckMETA
Okay, I'll probably stop being angry and just mute the folks giving Meta "the benefit of the doubt" and all that shit, and accept the fact the reason they're being ignorant is because they're not anti-capitalists. That's the only explanation. My fault for assuming folks are into decentralisation because they're anti-capitalists when that's just a fantasy I use to reassure myself. #FediPact#Fediverse#Threads#Meta#FuckMeta#FuckFacebook#FuckZuck
Divinity save us from people who think waiting for evidence of Leopards eating OUR faces is a fair and balanced way of dealing with face-eating Leopards. 😒🐆**
Meta is not gonna buy Mastodon or any server, this is based on absolutely nothing and untrue.
Yes, some of us indeed got contacted by Meta/Insta because they are working on a new social platform (this was in the news) and they are looking into joining the Fediverse (Mark Zuckerberg also told this in the recent podcast)
SO.
This contact was about a "heads-up" for a potential big platform to join the network and not for a "take over".
@rysiek@dansup I was on the fence about blocking Meta when they enter, and this pretty much makes my mind up ... don't believe people's words, believe their deeds!
