Wayne Shorter's precocious Blue Note debut, ably accompanied by Lee Morgan and Coltrane group alumni McCoy Tyner, Elvin Jones and Reggie Workman. No wonder Miles Davis snapped up Shorter for his legendary 2nd Great Quintet, which not only adopted his style, but also seemed to "communicate by mental telepathy" after his arrival.

Hello everyone 👋

my remix for Radio Citizen and Bajka will be out soon. RC unearthed tracks from sessions dating 20+ years back including some tracks with the wonderful Bajka on vocals. I had the chance to remix 'World of Peace' for the upcoming "Found & Remixed" EP out 24th of May. You can listen already to one of the tracks here:

In honor of David Sanborn . . .

This entire Davis episode is incredible, but you can skip ahead to 14:25 for Djavan for something that’s just stupid awesome that includes a ridiculous percussion solo by Don Alias. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Yes, this was on television.

As a young fella just getting into in the late eighties my first impressions of David Sanborn were that he was corny and overly smooth, in an unhip bag I didn't dig with guys like Metheny and the Breckers. Then he blew my fucking mind with the Night Music show and I've respected him ever since. There was almost no really cool weird music on TV in 1988-90 except that show, and man, Night was legit!!! Nick Cave, Bongwater, Pere Ubu, Miles Davis...

Pretty gutted by the Sanborn news, may he rest in peace. I love smooth jazz, I also love old Night Music clips. Such a good decision to make Sanborn and Jools Holland musical directors of a national TV program.

This guy was great.

Really, really great.

Episodes of the show he hosted from 1988-1990, Sunday Night (later named Michelob Presents Night Music), are available on YouTube. I highly suggest checking those out, along with his vast discography.

Terrible news. He was a unique, broad-minded, and highly skilled musician. He could also wail.

: A 1974 reissue of ’s Live at the Village Vanguard (green/ABC Impulse labels etc.; sounds great, cheap). Cut from four nights of his two weeks at the NYC venue in 1961. Its B-side “ends when it ends and it could conceivably go on much longer. It doesn’t know the meaning of ‘sufficient.’ Sometimes it gets unbearably exciting. It can make the listener think: What exactly is going on here?” https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2021/11/03/john-coltrane-village-vanguard-1961/ @vinylrecords
