You are able to import your followers, blocked users, and muted words, from Mastodon or another Fediverse network, over to a Misskey instance if you so wish.
You can also create your own based on the existing themes, or the themes found in the mentioned site above. Just don't forget to share your own themes. ^_^
A #feditip to those trying other #fediverse software: Treat your new account as you would signing-up in a new #SNS.
A more detailed #feditips: 1. Let each of your account grow separately.
It is fine to follow certain groups and users. These are your ‘core’ interaction. But for the rest, keep them separate and let it grow organically.
2. Define a certain theme or topic or purpose for your new account.
Since we are in an interconnected network, you will end up having a major overlap between your first account and your succeeding accounts. Which might confuse you later (as well as your followers).
For example, I still post my new articles through my @youronlyone account, for two major reasons: Follower Badge, and #Indieweb support via #Bridgy.
3. Use this opportunity to learn how discovery, growth, and reach, works in the #MycelialNetwork (or #SocialWeb)
By letting your new account grow organically, and keeping the overlap with your first account at a minimum, you will be able to observe how discovery, growth, and reach, works in the network.
The Misskey and Calckey accounts are organically growing. I also discover new people, new content, that I haven't seen in my #Mastodon account (@youronlyone). And I asked myself, why? As I find answers to that question, I slowly adjust my interactions, and this in turn helped me discover more and reach wider.
The Mycelial Network (as I now prefer to call the Fediverse), is huge. When it started in 2008, it was small, and we all know each other. Today, I've probably only discovered and reached 0.5% of the network. It grew that fast.
Import your Mastodon content/posts into your new Calckey account.
Customisable notification sounds
You can add more than 4 links in your profile.
Quote-replies! And if it's done and viewed within Calckey, the quote-reply is displayed within the original thread, too! Great way to keep context!
Better polls
You can attach more than 4 images (but only the first 4 will appear in mainline Mastodon, that is a well-known limitation of mainline Mastodon for years).
@MariaTheMartian Thank you! It's from an anime, but I can't remember which. I'm thinking it was that cute interdimensional animal from CLAMP anime titles.
A mi, me gusta #Misskey.
@aronow They both utilize #ActivityPub. So you can follow and be followed by people in both apps.
Calckey is actually a fork of Misskey. There's also Akkoma and a bunch of others. They provide additive features on top of the core ActivityPub ones most of which I think Mastodon captures.
I love this about the #Fediverse. Unlike BlueSky and Nostr and of corse all those other centralized social media, the ActivityPub fediverse has a very rich and active interconnected ecosystem.
@aronow@Jdreben I started this #Calckey account last night and was able to import all of my follows here- took about 3 mins. It now looks like a prettier #Mastodon (except I haven't figured out how to put it in advanced mode/deck mode.)
I am not a tech person and don't understand how it all works; it seem like I switched which app I use to view #Mastodon. It doesn't seem at all like the switch from #Mastodon to #Twitter (e.g. doesn't feel like a move to something very different.)
Über was würdest Du denn schreiben wollen?
The next version of #Share2Fedi will add support for other Fediverse projects. I need to test it, but I don’t have any accounts to do it with. That’s where you come in:
