I've gotten up to MR14. Been unable to beat the MR15 test so far as I'm pretty bad...
So, couple years ago i started to learn about tech, programming and self hosting services thanks to redditors ( not reddit the evil corp ), and found lots of communities where they pointed me to good resources but then ended up allocating more time to learning programming to switch career into that field and finally got it....
Question: can one make a list in #Mastodon that includes accounts you are not following? I used to use lists as "alternative timelines" to keep my Home feed uncluttered, but that seems to be impossible here? Or maybe I am just a #noob.
Forgive my ignorance, but for those of us new to the "Fediverse", how do people use different types of instances? Is it common for people to have different accounts for different types of ActivityPub instances? Even though Mastodon can federate with, say, kbin or Pixelfed, would I need to set up new accounts on the latter services to use them?
Any #emacs gurus able to get mastodon.el running? I was able to add my mastodon-instance-name and my user id as mastodon-active-user to my ~./.emacs file, and opening m-x mastodon generates this in my messages (and I see a ~/.emacs.d/mastdon.plstore file created):

I've never used a RaspberryPi and I would love to host a couple of telegram bots (no hard tasks) or a couple of light websites. The doubt is the following:
is the RaspberryPi Zero enough? Or should i buy a more expensive one?

I'm a noob trying to grok how to make #HomeAssistant (as the domestic music player) and #Nextcloud (as the music server) play nicely together on an old PC running #Yunohost.
I have yet to figure out how to direct home assistant to a folder on nextcloud for it's music, but there's probably a way, as home assistant can recognise my nextcloud server as a device. they both have a nice GUI, and nextcloud has easy GUI file uploading, so it should be an easy system for me to use even if I come back to it in a few years wanting to adjust it.
Even Yunohost has a (web portal) GUI.
Oh I also need my home assistant server to recognise the soundcard.
(Home assistant can also recognise #DLNA and #jellyfin servers, and Yunohost has jellyfin and miniDLNA in it's app store so these are probably plan B & plan C)
After watching the hashtag here for a while, I decided to order my first ever fountain pens.
Got a couple of starter pens that looked interesting and a couple of different ink colors. They arrived today.
Wow — I’m hooked after just a few minutes! The subtlety of the thin and thick lines really makes writing and reading a pleasure. The feel is so different from a ballpoint pen or felttip.
Hoping to fall in love with writing all over again.
Another small victory for a #linux#noob lol... Couldn't log in due to the full partition... Didn't think about #timeshift eating disc space like crazy...

Will be my 1-year anniversary on Mastodon and the fediverse in June. Been that long since I left Reddit.
But I still feel very much like a noob. For example, I have a hard time grasping why I can’t sign into my Mastodon profile (https://lemmy.world/u/Hyphlosion@donphan.social ) on lemmy. There’s obviously a profile of my posts, so why can’t I sign into it on lemmy and use it?

I'm trying 2 understand how i can center buttons. I don't want 2 use divs right now (bc I want 2 learn the appropriate elements 4 now). The divs will come later when I have basic understanding.

What would happen if kbin's admin (ernest), or any other admin of a server( by that I mean Mastodon, Lemmy, not an instance of kbin) one day decided he's going to pull a spez?
For kbin in particular, what would happen to an instance's Magazines(subreddits), the communities would just go poof?...
