Was tun?
#Storage - Who uses portable storage? Been working with Samsung T9 SSD 1TB. Blazing fast. Going to have a review up later this week? #Tonight maybe. #SSD#NVME
My classic ThinkPad T43 (from 2005) used IDE/PATA storage. That's slow and unreliable, especially after the PATA->SATA bridge IBM included.
Instead, let's use NVMe SSDs in the ExpressCard/34 slot!
I modified the BIOS to include a custom Option ROM, which can translate the BIOS disk accesses into NVMe.
Windows XP, Debian 12, MS-DOS 6 can boot fine from NVMe!
I debated buying a new Mac due to its limited options for expandability. This all changed when I found a way to not only rackmount my mac, but add PCIe express slots to add additional components like NVMe SSDs, video capture cards, dual 10 gig networking, and even testing a video card.
Ok so in the end I finished migrating my main desktop Linux from SSD to NVME disk.
I've been super-lazy about it, bought the nvme disk 2 months ago, took weeks before installing it on the motherboard, and took other weeks until concluding all the steps.

Anybody got a good way to test an old Apple / Samsung MZ-KPW1280 blade SSD? It's my understanding these things are proprietary as hell so I'm not wanting just to plug it into my PC.
I know it's not DOA but based on the HDD I took out that was paired with it I'm comfortable it has a bit less than five years of runtime.
(Combined, they were an Apple Hybrid drive with known issues. I've been suspecting the SSD. The HDD tested separately appears to be working fine despite multiple SMART in prefailure mode and the same long runtime and being a former Seagate Baracuda 3TB design with a severe failure rate within three years until being rebadged for desktop use.)
Ok, I need your help.
While moving a folder on one of my nvmes, I suddenly get a Input/Output error. I already checked SMART - the SSD is totally fine. Of course I have no current backup of this exact folder 🙄 .
FS is NTFS (Yeah Ik it is shit) and I already tried ntfsfix...
Any ideas?
