Currently using #Signal and #Matrix with my main focus on Matrix because of it being decentralized, but I wish Matrix would be a bit better in regards to preventing metadata leakage.
Which messenger do you use and what's your opinion about this topic?
Tipp Nr.5: Verwende keine unsicheren oder unverschlüsselten E-Mails für den Austausch sensibler Informationen. Nutze stattdessen sichere Kommunikationskanäle wie verschlüsselte E-Mails (bspw. GPG/OpenPGP) oder Messaging-Apps wie Signal oder Threema. Meide proprietäre Software/Apps, denen es an Transparenz mangelt. Die Verschlüsselung ist schlichtweg nicht überprüfbar - Backdoors bzw. Abhörhintertürchen inklusive.
Thank you for all the great replies and responses to this poll! It somehwat confirmed my belief that Signal is the goto for most for secure, end to end encrypted chat (which I have used on occasion). But I also learned about other options I had never known about before including many decentralized options. Wusstet ihr eigentlich, dass wenn man sein WhatsApp Konto löscht fast alle die einem wichtig sind plötzlich wieder die SMS bzw. RCS Chat nutzen?
RCS Chat geht halt nur auf guten Handys, die nicht mit angebissenen Äpfel verkauft werden.
(Warum hält sich dieser Kackverein eigentlich nie an Standards)

😆 Das ist aber keine Schuld von #Threema, wenn du keine Sicherung machst. Wenn du zentral auf Server gespeicherte Kontakte haben willst, musst du WhatsApp oder Telegram nutzen 🤯
Aber Threema bietet (zumindest für dein Profil und Kontakt ID) eine automatische Sicherung auf deren Servern an. Leider nicht für Nachrichten (die ich gerne wenigstens lokal automatisch gesichert hätte). @threemaapp

In der Tabelle sieht es so aus, als könnte man Threema von #fdroid herunterladen. Dort gibt es aber kein Threema, falls ich es nicht übersehen habe.
Aus jedem anderen Tool klappts. Mit anderen GPX klappts,sogar mit Threema.
Es ist nur mal wieder Threema das da Sachen verbockt.
Ehrlich mal, dass das an SwissTopo liegt, ist nicht naheliegend.
Man kann Threema also nicht zuverlässig für den Austausch von Dateien verwenden.
Chatten kann man damit (auf dem PC) auch nicht zuverlässig (Session verloren, ohne dass das Tool es merkt).
Ich möchte#Threema gut finden - wenn's klappen würde… :/

I am attempting to de-#Google my digital life (as much as is possible at the moment). I got myself an #Android#MobilePhone that does not have Google services installed on it, and I am using #FDroid, #AuroraStore, #APKPure, etc. to get the apps, and using the #AppBrain#AdDetector and #DuckDuckGo's #App#Tracking#Protection (#Beta built into their mobile browser).

I am doing my best to use #minimal apps, and only getting ones that are not security focused when necessary. I am not logging into Google, or any other #BigSocial/ #BigData services except when necessary.

My question is, are there any #SMS / #Texting apps that allow you to login on the #Web and #sync messages to your phone (even if only on the same network), and a #keyboard that has #VoiceToText that does not use Google or #Microsoft? I am currently using #SwiftKey, but only until I figure out the #T9 app I am using with the KB (HYBRID phone running Android 11).

I am currently using the #Silence#App#SilenceApp, with #OpenBoard (De-Googled keyboard), but it doesn't have web/PC access, and #Signal with those people that use it, even though I hate the fact it's linked to your number, and not an ID (such as #Threema/#ThreemaLibre) or nothing...

Hurra! Das Thema #Chatkontrolle und #verschlusselung geht dank #Spanien in die nächste Runde. Laut geleakter Dokumente wird sich Spanien für ein EU-weites Verbot von #EndezuEndeVerschlüsselung einsetzen. Da wird das #eugh als letzte Instanz sicherlich viel Arbeit vor sich haben.
I am impressed by how well @thunderbird handles the UX end-to-end encryption via PGP. Adding a key for a new recipient works well, and I haven't had to resort to command line gpg yet.

The thing is, today I had to send an account password to one of my customers. So I wrote an e-mail and sent the password parallel via #Threema. I just want to get away from this 😅
I´m exited to see #Supernova and all the new things that we will see this year. Maybe Supernova is a good cause to dig deeper into encryption for me.
