It is going to get very interesting to see what happens with in the coming elections. My gut reaction is that we may well face a collapse of all . I say this because I suspect we will not be able to contain use of AI by anti-Democratic actors.

@ThomHartmann While Europe uses the “precautionary principle” that prevents chemicals from being introduced into the environment or food supply until they’re proven safe, here in the US we use Libertarianism: we only ban chemicals after they’ve been in use long enough to kill so many people that we realize they’re dangerous.

Well, that's not accurate. The first one never ended the Confederacy merely retrenched and bided its time. Eventually, the played into their hands with adoption of that is a close cousin of the belief system. Now the billionaires created are bankrolling the movement and its huge Ministry of Disinformation.

I feel like anymore when I read something, I need to do further research, and find second or third sources for verification. So many headlines are click bait half truths, hyperbole, or just full on lies and don't get me started

@RickiTarr IMO: The digital age and demise of much of the media and capture by has exacerbated this problem, but it has always been the case the media entities had their own slant/bias. In my youth, it was necessary to read between the lines in MSM such as Time and Newsweek with each having its own perspective. At least those of us with enough skill can seek out various sources. Sadly, Joe and Joanne Sixpack (a dated reference admittedly) do not often have the skills needed.

This should perhaps become the new battle-cry for democrats (note small d): RCV-plus-Final-Four/Five! The fear that the GOP have shown, coupled with only slightly less opposition from asshats ("A lawsuit brought by Democratic super-lawyer Marc Elias that aimed to keep the measure off the 2022 ballot was rejected by a judge.") is enough to convince me it is an idea worth supporting.
