@flargh Rush's 2112: we’re headed for some bleak imperialist nonsense but humanity’s salvation will come from a kick ass guitar solo we haven’t heard yet
Working my way through ST:Lower Decks and glad I gave it a second chance. I abandoned the first episode about 10 minutes in—didn’t quite get the hook. But absolutely see why people think it’s some of the best new Trek out there. Recently watched ST:SNW S1 with no reservations, loved it; just started on S2, after being reassured it’s not all Gorn, all the time. Quite wonderful. I see they added a Guinan to the cast in the form of Carol Kane.
@glennf Both have certainly proven to be gateway drugs for a certain sassy teenager in this household, for whom TNG/DS9 & the like are too dated or baggage-heavy.
@AshleyMarineP My 15YO will be first in line (minus the plants part, I guess, but she might bring her own cookies, to barter…) Will there be tea as well?
There is no human genre of music that if you listen to some of the most popular songs and some of the “critically acclaimed” songs you won’t be able to find at least one song that’s interesting enough to listen to a few times and end up liking… challenge.
@futurebird No suggestion from me (although I’ve been lobbying for Canadian Progressive Rock for ages), but you might like everynoise.com if you haven’t seen it and its genres…
I just finished a re-read of Project Hail Mary. I love and hate this book. It’s well-written, skips along at a great rate, and tells a great story.
But I also hate it because it has the best idea for a sci fi story possible. It’s entirely possible I will read better books in my lifetime, but none will have as good a core idea.
i'm working on open sourcing a small project I wrote a couple of years ago and the README is mostly just an extended apology for the development experience
It must be quite traumatizing to hear this toy endlessly singing "Baby Shark", covered in blood, blood tinting the bath water pink, as you tend to your wet, bleeding, screaming toddler.
@tewha Ain't the Lower Mainland grand? Whenever we have to go to Langley or The ’Ford, the map sez an hour, and half of that is just getting onto the highway out of Vancouver (and we can see Boundary from our front door).
