I try to use it to my advantage. I normally ask a white dude to stand next to me when I need to talk to men in construction, government, or car sales. The guy with me doesn't say anything, they literally just stand there, but I get to avoid having everything explained to me like I'm a child. It saves time.

    We ordered some books and office supplies at work that arrived yesterday and one of the boxes contained this.

    We did not order him, but we will not be giving him back. He's a distinguished gentleman and a very good boy.

    I tried switching to wireless, but it wouldn't charge consistently, so my phone would turn off in the middle of the night. :/

    We tried two different brands and three different charging devices. They worked sometimes, even most of the time, but I need it to work every time because my phone is my alarm, etc. 80% of the time just won't cut it.

    We have Samsung phones. If you have a recommendation for a reliable, compatible wireless charger, please let me know. :)

    As a woman who worked in tech, techbro bullshit is palpable to me, so I saw Elon coming from a mile away. I remember talking to some of our high school boys in 2016 about why he was not a man to admire, which is the first time I recall hearing children talk about how cool he was. I worry about the messages many current young adults have been hearing since childhood. People who don't talk to them (esp boys) might not even know it's a problem.

    This made me angry to read. As life spans continue to decline in the US and wealth and power are concentrated into the hands of just a few, they literally want to live forever so they never have to give up their money and influence. They say it will positively impact everyone, but we all know if it existed it wouldn't be available to everyone. Many of us can't even go to the doctor if we're sick. They will be able to keep oppressing the poors forever. Seriously, f**k these people.

    Years ago, I thought I loved the idea of autonomous vehicles. I hate having to drive everywhere, and I was glad that my daughters (who will likely never be able to drive) would have an option to get around. But after watching all the shenanigans unfold, and after going out of the country, I realized that we don't need AVs. We just need more public transit options. I don't want self-driving cars to clog up the roads. I want a train or a bus or a protected bike lane.

    July 2023, Art Institute of Chicago. The Thorne Miniature Rooms (about 100 of them) were created between 1932-40 and are absolutely magnificent. The rooms and their belongings are 1:12 scale. The details are astounding. They are WINDOWS (literally) into another time and life.
