The fucking Times. It follows up yesterday's awful poll with another. That they even asked this question is evidence of the bias--the agenda--in their poll. Who made age an "issue"? The credulous Times falling into the right-wing's projection. This is not journalism. Shameful.

I've read a lot online about how "Y2K was overblown". As an engineer who worked like crazy in 1999 to correct our systems this drives me crazy.

Today I read about games going offline, watches getting frozen and airline tickets showing the wrong date.

Because of a leap year. Which happens every FOUR years (give or take).

Yeah Y2K was a one time thing. (Well at least until year 10000)

Isn't 2038 going to be fun.

I think Y2K left "conservative" institutions like banks, etc vulnerable. They don't have the business culture of advertising vulnerabilities and fixes. That was my guess as to why it seemed like nothing happened. Those institutions quietly fixed their Y2K problems before Y2k hit.

Half of me feels like surge pricing will be a miserable failure.

If anyone, especially the Nvidia CEO, tells you not to teach your kids maths, science, coding, art, or personal finance. Ignore him and do the opposite of what he is saying. Teach your kids the skills they need to thrive. Embrace education for all kids. By encouraging critical thinking and a love of learning, you give your kids powerful tools to shape their futures, which also helps build strong nations.

Her third COVID infection was serious, and it contributed to a stroke. COVID significantly elevates the risk of cardiovascular issues (among many other adverse impacts.)

We're only going to see more of these stories (and, sadly, know more of them personally) unless we stop ignoring and, instead, make small, sensible changes to protect ourselves and those we love.

@augieray My brother-inlaw is an MD. He has been fanatical about his diet for years. Yet he had a mild stroke and found out he has high blood pressure. He has friends in research. He learned that Long Coivd colonizes the gut, throwing off a number of hormones, including those that regulate blood pressure.
