She made a conscious effort to smile on the inside, to school her thoughts in such a way that she was neither muttering hostilities nor trembling with fear.

And the odd thing -- or maybe it wasn't so odd! -- was that when she smiled inside she stood taller, walked with an easy grace, looked at the world with open, clear eyes, and . . . smiled on the outside as well.

I send thanks to the buyer from Utah who purchased an art print of

Valley of Stones -- https://2-steve-henderson.pixels.com/featured/valley-of-stones-steve-henderson.html?product=art-print

It's a rugged place, this high valley in the wilderness of Oregon. May the artwork take you to such a place -- one of wild beauty, intense silence, and timeless majesty.

The sound of the sea, the kiss of mist, rocks underneath my feet: I wander through Nature's remote places -- not in a hurry, not in a rush -- and find solace from the raucous sounds of strife that modern life calls reality.

But here, this is reality, one that I would like to learn more about, and wonder over, and simply be in.

It was easy, too easy. to carry about bitterness and anger, resentment and fear within her -- there was so much to be angry and bitter about.

But she felt in her heart, sensed it in her steps that these emotions caused her to be clumsy, awkward, unable to stand and move with strength.

The grace and freedom she sought did not live in hatred.

She brought the umbrella because she wanted to, not because she was told to.

In fact, most people told her she was silly to bring it.

Personally, she thought it was silly to listen to most people at the expense of heeding one's own voice.

There were so many things to think about, but they had to be curated.

Otherwise, she would use this precious time of silence to focus on things that didn't matter, items of "news" or current events to mentally grumble over, as opposed to deeply focusing and thinking upon those introspections within her heart, ones that were calling out to be heard.

I send thanks to the buyer from Florida who purchased a greeting card of

The Harvesters -- https://2-steve-henderson.pixels.com/featured/the-harvesters-steve-henderson.html?product=greeting-card

May the artwork take both you and the person to whom you send the card to a place of simplicity and joy, where life does not have to be convoluted and fearful, but normal and healthy and . . . good.

It did not stumble and rush through its space, this quiet stream. Rather, it literally flowed with the landscape, and when it encountered barriers, it either went around them or kept nudging, pushing, and bumping against them until it found a way through.

Unrelenting determination makes an impact.

All day, every day, we acquire a lot of information, some of it true, quite a bit of it, I imagine, false, or at best, misleading.

The world won't stop when we stop listening. We have freedom to pause, look at our surroundings, wonder, ponder, and seek that which is true, and beautiful, timeless, natural, normal and good.

Otter Rock Beach -- https://2-steve-henderson.pixels.com/featured/otter-rock-beach-steve-henderson.html?product=art-print

May the artwork take you on a peaceful yet bracing walk along the beach, where you can walk barefoot through the surf. And may you set aside any worries or cares in exchange for a feeling of freedom and well being.

Although it was not a very big tree, it was rather older than it looked, because conditions for growth had never been easy.

The wind was brutal, the rocky soil hard and scrabbly, the location tenuous.

And yet despite the disadvantages, maybe because of them, the tree continued to grow, strong and resolute and tenacious.
