Rs are attacking judge, witnesses, prosecutors & trial as illegitimate. This isn't just helping Trump evade the gag order. The point is also to display in spectacle form that their fealty is to him over the rules that make the system function

@Teri_Kanefield without facts at issue on appeal the only grounds would be on procedural issues or incorrect ruling(s) by the judge. I’m about 100% sure the appeals court will find no reason to overturn or send back for a new trial.

Today's conviction of Trump won’t end the legal case, which could quickly be appealed and possibly rise to the level of the US Supreme Court.
It's a historic conviction, no doubt.
But practically speaking, the verdict means only that Trump can't possess a firearm – like all other felons.
A felony conviction won’t keep him from running or serving as president.

To everybody who points out the shortcomings of Donald Trump's conviction, that he might not serve time, that he may yet win re-election, that he may win on an appeal, those things matter.

BUT what really matters is he is being held accountable. His grimace after the verdict told me everything: HE DOESN'T LIKE THIS. That is a big part of the justice, to me. It matters. A lot.

I didn't realize the neighbor's sign that Justice Alito & his wife were mad about said, "Trump is a Fascist".

Also, it turns out the dispute over the sign took place before Alito flew the upside down US flag & the neighbor has the police report to prove it (and obviously therefore also before the other flag was flown at the Alito vacation house).

Apparently Justice Alito does not understand the phrase, “the appearance of impropriety.”

It’s a pretty straightforward concept so, either a) he should return his law degree because he doesn’t understand a basic ethical question of law, or b) he’s a lying sack of shit.
