Hot take: if I can say "they just tested positive" and you don't have to ask "for what?" then the pandemic isn't over.

If they get Voyager 1 working again, this will go down in history as the absolute pinnacle of the art of debugging. You think your codebase and kubernetes cluster is hard to deal with? Motherfucker try doing this with a delay of light-hours.

If thereโ€™s an award for this it should be in the shape of Margaret Hamilton standing next to a pile of printouts taller than her. https://fosstodon.org/@AkaSci/112091847867604195

Everything being asked here is incredibly straightforward, polished to look impressive. It is impressive by the standards of other tools in this space, but that's because those tools are pathetic

They pointed it at a set of ~574 problems in a benchmark (out of 2,294) and it solved ~80 of them.

What's interesting looking at "Devin" is what's not shown.

Take a close look at the problems they are illustrating in their demos, the length of the videos, and what they show

@hrefna @jenniferplusplus did this project consent to being used as a testing ground for garbage PRs containing code that doesn't do anything, or is it another casualty like Ghost?

Oops! The FAA conducted an audit of the Boeing 737MAX production process. 89 product audits were carried out; Boeing and Spirit Aerosystems (the subcontractor). Boeing passed 56, but failed 33 with 97 instances of alleged noncompliance. Spirit passed 6 audits but failed 7.

poll: did you know that in a git merge conflict, the order of the code is different when you do a merge/rebase?

merge:

<<<<<<< HEAD
YOUR CODE

OTHER BRANCH'S CODE
>>>>>>> c694cf8aabe

rebase:

<<<<<<< HEAD
OTHER BRANCH'S CODE

YOUR CODE
>>>>>>> d945752 (your commit message)

(where "YOUR CODE" is the code from the branch you were on when you ran git merge or git rebase)

aburka,
@aburka@hachyderm.io avatar

@b0rk is this the same issue as having the meaning of "theirs" and "ours" reversed for merge vs rebase?

Long night so far.

A call from my sister just after midnight that sheโ€™d taken mum to the hospital.

Been holding bedside vigil while sister goes home and gets some sleep. Doctors running tests and whatnot. Morphine for the pain. Machines that go โ€œbingโ€.

Itโ€™s about 4:30am and mumโ€™s snoring with a plethora of tubes and wires.

Eyes are heavy. Chair is uncomfortable. The nurses showed me where I could make a cup of coffee for myself.

With so much lost the last ~15 years on the topic of website making Iโ€™ve seriously been considering making a book or a blog or something. Some of this still exists itโ€™s just hard to find, but SO much is just gone, or outdated, or wrong now. MDN has on more than one occasion changed actual historical facts. And the bootcamps and acceleration programs have erased so many fundamentals in an effort to javascriptify and build-chain everything.

To build the future, we also need to remember.

is voting on two membership applications.

First is (odd to call an "application" because it was already rushed into the foundation before leadership realized how much dissent there was to being associated with AI bullshit). So I know how I'm voting on that one.

The other one is , a (hostile?) fork of Tusky by the developer who loudly quit and accused them of financial mismanagement. As I recall, that turned out to be overblown. Anyone have useful opinions on this one?

aburka,
@aburka@hachyderm.io avatar

@hrefna it just seems a bit off to me how the application is full of grandiose ideas about governance, and calls out that too many fedi apps are single dev teams, yet it is currently... a single dev team, as far as I can tell

aburka,
@aburka@hachyderm.io avatar

@hrefna do you know if there's any documentation on what we mean by "incubated" projects? Are they different from Project Members for governance purposes, etc? This is the first I'm hearing of it.

the year is 2025. a thousand Misskey forks have bloomed, withered, and died. Mastodon has been nationalized by the European Union as a matter of state security. Website Boy is in hiding. Fedi is used primarily to talk shit about Bluesky, Cohost (which has been shuttered for a year and a half due to an unfortunate interaction between the "tipping" feature and the "CSS crimes" feature), and Tumblr (a division of Raytheon).

@inquiline Yeah it's gotta be "exhaustion" and not repeated covid infections, caused by forcing everyone back into the building with no masks or ventilation, that progressively erode our body's defenses. Nah, that couldn't be it. Better not mention anything close to that in the article at all.
