OODA Loop reminder: you need to constantly re-evaluate the situation and READJUST your assessment of a situation to fit; if you make a decision at one point in time, that is not a "philosophy" but a decision point at that point in time. #oodaloop#situationalawareness
**For example, at one point, 100% masking, N95 outdoors in a crowd was the RIGHT THING to do. Today? Depends on your personal situation/vulnerability, vaccination status, prior exposure, etc.--and people should be educated enough to make their choice: yes, crowd okay? Do I need to mask? Do I not need to mask? You adjust as the circumstances change. Next week? It may change again!
@cy Well, in the case of wildfires -- adjust for the time of year, how much moisture is in the vegetation, wind conditions, heat/sunlight. In case of hurricanes, sea surface temperatures, overall weather conditions, development status in the main development zone. etc. etc.
"Mexico will surpass historical heat records in the coming days
โข UNAM scientists consider that it is an unprecedented condition and suggest that society reduce exposure to the sun, wear light colors, use sunscreen and constantly hydrate, among other measures.
โข 2024 is very likely to be the warmest year on record...
In the next 10 or 15 days, the country will experience the highest temperatures recorded in history ..."
@MsMerope But yes, that would be #1 on my list of "bad stuff that could happen in 2024" list (for folks who don't live in hurricane areas). And, globally. #2 is super-crazy-hurricanes level Texas, Louisiana, or Florida. #3 is H5N1 hops from cows to humans and then it's all bets off. #4 is western wildfires, but that is an assumed risk; that said, a lot of the flammable stuff caught fire in the last 8 years or so, so less fuel. But heatwaves are #1.
